Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He’s looking worryingly poor.

We really can’t afford for him to turn out to be a dud. If he becomes another N’dombele flop we are fucked

The biggest concern for me is the lack of dynamism. He looks slow, no acceleration, lacks strength. The other stuff like decision making can be improved upon but the physical stuff not so easy

Look at what he did at Nottingham mate. It's what he was doing to us all of last season. We made the right choice - let it go.

He said the third season was always better than the second one. Big Ange Nostradamus.

But you’re right. It’s good to let go and understand the situation you are in.

Fact remains. We sack winners at Spurs. Sometimes before cup finals. Sometimes after.

We can’t moan too much about transition seasons. It’s who we are!

Not long ago you were praising him.

If he was the one player in a team looking poor then we could get worried however last night barring Vic and Gray everyone looked off their game, like i said in a previous post I'm hoping it just starts to click , I really like what Glasner has done with Palace but then if you look at his first 10 games there they were terrible, lets just hope we can suddenly start clicking , but right now when pretty much the whole team looks turgid its a bit unfair to single out new players.

Agreed.

It took Poch a while to get us clicking and he was similarly building us back from a dire state.

We’re trying to fundamentally rebuild a team structure and dynamic. It’s not as if we’re building off strong, established foundations too.

He's been absolutely shocking. His decision making yesterday was horrendous. A 4v3 break and he turns back. Refusing to cross the ball at the end of the game when we'd 4 players in the box, instead doing a pointless dribble and passing back before we eventually lose possession and thankfully the referee blew the whistle before Monaco had a counter on.

Apart from the last 20 mins against Brighton, he's been awful. He's nowhere near Maddison's level in the 10, his decision making is too bad. And he's not as good as Odobert on the left who is better at winning duals and beating a man 1v1. Odobert is simply a better winger than Simons.

That being said, I still think we should persist with him in the 10 as much as we can as Bergvall and Sarr are showing no form either. But wow what an underwhelming signing so far. Hopefully he can come good. He really needs a goal! He does strike me as a confidence player so maybe a goal will change him.

Him & Spence upset me tonight...... We were on the brink of a 5 v 3 break late in the 2nd half and the pair of them just stopped dead about 30 yards from their goal and the overload was gone.

Unacceptable from 2 lads that only had to play 25mins.

He's meant to be our new 60m talisman.
Yep that was unbelievable and incredibly frustrating and wasted a golden opportunity.

It smacked of neither wanting to take responsibility and offload it to someone else.

The team is operating with very little forward cohesion. only Kudus looks like he is playing at a reasonable level. A flair player like Simons trying to link up play and put together clever moves is going to struggle with dross like Odobert, Richy around him.
He is suffering from the general malaise currently but he does have class and I am sure will come good

Bit unfair to be blaming Odobert for Simon's poor showings. Odobert has been good on the left wing the last few games and done his job well. If anything, he's the player who is lacking support!

I think it’s simpler than that and the speed and physicality of the Premier League has caught him out.

I really hope he’s not going to be another overhyped youngster.

Well, given that he was Spurs 4th choice, it's clear that the scouts knew he wasn't the perfect fit. Gibbs white, Paz, And the palace bloke all fell through before Simmons was considered.

Last season was the first time in years we started and finished the season with the same manager for two years on the trot.

And guess what we won a trophy!! A European one.
And then we sack the most successful Spurs manager of this century.

We really are our own worst enemy. Back to more transitional seasons.

Meanwhile Woolwich have stuck with arteta and now seem to be favourites to do the prem and CL double.
The manager who did this on a tv documentary ………

I feel like I’m living in a different reality!!
We are doing better than last season.

We just aren’t in the mediocre competition that got us a trophy.

Ffs we finished on 38 points and won a trophy by playing park the bus against woeful opposition, get a grip.

That manager has now been sacked after losing almost every game at his new club because he’s not premier league standard.

What’s your point? I was stating he was our most successful manager this century and was given time to get there. Two full seasons.

I’m seeing people on here questioning Frank after a few months.

You disagree? Fair enough.

There’s no grip to be gripped. It’s hard facts.

He wasn’t the most successful manager this century unless you have an insanely narrow definition of success. The EL isn’t the CL or PL and he delivered a relegation level campaign in the same season.

He’s a clown. Frankly if he wasn’t given time we probably win it anyway as the competition was ludicrously weak last year.
