He wasn’t the most successful manager this century unless you have an insanely narrow definition of success. The EL isn’t the CL or PL and he delivered a relegation level campaign in the same season.

He’s a clown. Frankly if he wasn’t given time we probably win it anyway as the competition was ludicrously weak last year.
What is success to you mate?

He delivered our largest trophy this century so I can get the assessment of best etc

We did also park the bus against a shite Man U team but that’s not etched on the cup it just says:

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR WINNERS 2024/25

I was a massive Ange outer too btw.

What’s your point? I was stating he was our most successful manager this century and was given time to get there. Two full seasons.

I’m seeing people on here questioning Frank after a few months.

You disagree? Fair enough.

There’s no grip to be gripped. It’s hard facts.
Would you not rankJuande Ramos ahead of Big Ange in our pantheon of managerial greats this century? Ramos won a League Cup and never dragged us as low as a league finishing position of 17th.

I’d be inclined to rank the League Cup ahead of a farmers league of a European competition where we were only facing Norwegian fishermen and Azerbaijani goat herder standard teams.

He's been absolutely shocking. His decision making yesterday was horrendous. A 4v3 break and he turns back. Refusing to cross the ball at the end of the game when we'd 4 players in the box, instead doing a pointless dribble and passing back before we eventually lose possession and thankfully the referee blew the whistle before Monaco had a counter on.

Apart from the last 20 mins against Brighton, he's been awful. He's nowhere near Maddison's level in the 10, his decision making is too bad. And he's not as good as Odobert on the left who is better at winning duals and beating a man 1v1. Odobert is simply a better winger than Simons.

That being said, I still think we should persist with him in the 10 as much as we can as Bergvall and Sarr are showing no form either. But wow what an underwhelming signing so far. Hopefully he can come good. He really needs a goal! He does strike me as a confidence player so maybe a goal will change him.
Yeah, he's been shite. I actually think No.10 (shite Xavi, Kulu and Madders crocked) is the single biggest reason we have been disappointing in a number of games this season.

Hope he can turn it round. Needs to quickly

Europa League is miles ahead of the League Cup.

Regardless, a trophy is a trophy.

Yeah. I'd rather have the Poch years to the Ange years. And that answers the question.

In all honesty I doubt any Spurs fan would rather have the Ange years.

No I will never equate the league cup with one of the big 2 European trophies.

That 5-1 at the lane in the semi final was one of the best atmospheres I ever saw at the old WHL though. Funnily enough Ramos also won 11 league games that season. Just able to draw games. Something Australians don’t believe in. Like Americans I guess.

Each to their own, I get some will put that cup run of 6 games ahead of a European campaign. That Europa League trophy holds more status to me.

Trophy filled rooms. That’s how success in sport is measured. It’s not a bizarre concept of the few. That’s the mass consensus!!

The most successful clubs have the most trophies. The trophy gets given to 1st place or the winner of the final. That’s the game!!

Succcesful teams and managers win trophies. End of.

Most decorated but to be the most successful you have to be able to balance both league and cups. Creating a team that can regularly compete at the top is success for a manager IMO. If you had to rewatch the 2 seasons of Ange or the 2 seasons of peak Poch, which would you prefer?

There is no big 2 European trophies.

There is a big European trophy and the other ones.

Bloody hell. You lot will do anything to swerve the definition of success!! Was his goal
to generate cash or trophies?? Yes I would say in turns of £££s revenue Poch has to be the most successful Spurs manager ever. Sure Daniel appreciates him for that.

And Poch’s Spurs team were good enough to go a season unbeaten at home, finish 2nd in the league and 3rd twice. If that’s success then at this point in time it means we are going to be lauding Arteta as being successful.

3 seasons in a row now finishing 2nd. Could be 4. Amazing!! Far more successful than we were.

You can use the argument if he threw the league and 100% concentrated on the europa league and there were no teams dropping into it from the CL he would have won it. We will never know.
Trophies are for ego as he once said. He had a point btw. Ange’s ego is off the scale.

Whilst the Europa League is a bigger trophy than the league cup, the league cup is much harder to win.

Last season for example we had to beat City, United, and the eventual title winners Liverpool. In the Europa League we had to beat Bodo Glimt, Frankfurt and United, it's not remotely comparable.

It's can't be underestimated. Ramos beating that Chelsea team in that league cup final was far more impressive than beating 2025 United.

He didn't throw the league.

He was shit ever since we lost to Chelsea ending that unbeaten run.

Lucked out on the cup.

He hasnt even played 10 games so far...
Some of you need to take a deep breath and relax.

The team needs to sober up from last season. It will take around half a season to get anything going during a very congested season. Losing your head at this stage in the season really isnt worth it.

You’re right. Professional footballers paid millions of pounds a year should be able to alter their body shape properly and kick the ball adequately with their wrong foot. Unfortunately it seems like the game, in England anyway, doesnt see it as a necessity. Drives me mad.

My point was even more fundamental... No excuse to stop dead in your tracks. You can still support the attack and draw defenders away.
