His ball to vdv was poor, but both of those and Spence all had their parts in the goal. Spence trying fucking dragbacks 25 yards from goal, xavi with a piss weak ball to vdv and then vdv not just reading the danger and getting rid, losing the ball to whoever they had there. It was such a bad goal to concede on so many levels there's not one person it should be pinned on.

He was poor yesterday, and has been really since he's got here. But I don't think the goal was all his fault. I'm still of the opinion that he'll be fine with a bit of quality around him, but he's not the driving force in an attack. He's still 22, very lightweight and needs to bulk up a bit.
Pretty much.

I agree that Xavi and Spence were partly at fault but the ultimate reasonability lies with van de Ven: it's never a good idea to try to dribble off a player as the last man in defense. Never. And he had plenty of time to kick the ball out of danger.

Yeah I don't really disagree with that. Ultimately vdv was the guy who made the fuck up that gave away the goal, but there are many other factors that led up to it that imo can't be ignored. It was just a total clusterfuck and you could see it coming then from when Spence lost the ball.

We just don't seem to get in guys that are actually suited to us and the league ,forget about stats here and there they are misleading when comparing leagues indifferent countries .

Yeah, there was a whole series of errors, but what I don't like is people solely pinning it on Xavi, when his pass was the least of issues with the goal.

Just thinking…

Ilie Dumitrescu, Sergei Rebrov, Steed Malbranque, Paulinho, Super Pav, Nacer Chadli, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Tanguy McDonaldsbelly… even Bobby Soldier, bloody hell none of these were ultimately considered good enough forwards/MFs for our supposed ambitions, but all had a bigger impact in their first few months than poor old Shabby Ranks.

Seriously, WTF is TTF supposed to do with such a poor performing forward line??!!

:frankarms:
