Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Maddison was fit, he wouldn’t be playing. I don’t think you have both and Maddison is much better.
If Maddison hadn't got that injury we'd never have bought him in the first place

Another stupid panic buy. We needed the replacement to hit the ground running so let's get someone who's never played in English football, let alone the PL.

With our injury situation we've just got to persevere and hope to hell he comes good.

The people saying he passed forwards and moved the ball quickly must've been watching a different game to me.

There were multiple occasions he could've played players in and instead passed backwards and lost the ball.

Maybe he couldn't have actually played players in because his final ball in the final third is lacking.

He was shite yesterday imv

Not the only one but one of the worst!

When Madders is fit and in the 10, Xavi will be back on the left IMHO.

That’s the only way I see both being on the pitch at the same time.
The left of midfield or a front 3? I don’t see that myself, he’s not quick or a goal scorer. He’s not a passer or great crosser. He’s not going to beat many full backs with pace or strength. He’ll tend to drift infield and we’ll get exposed down that side.
I think he would be a back up or substitute for Maddison.

After some green shoots, he's really regressed.
I thought he was more of a hindrance yesterday than an asset. Hogged the ball far too much and gave it away every single time.
Seems to have no eye or brain for a pass when it's on and usually concedes possession when we need to keep it the most.

At the very most!

After the Eze debacle things had really reached critical mass...the fans were soo enraged at being mugged off that Levy paid up straight away no questions asked no negotiations needed for Simons despite the massive red flag out Chelsea not willing to stump up the cash for him. In the immediate aftermath it looked like a genius pivot by Levy to a lot of fans and the short lived feel good factor was back.

He’s talented. Not elite level talent .. like he’s obviously just a level below a Palmer, Wirtz level player, but he is technically decent and works hard enough. In a stable team he’d be ok.

Down in the bottom half of any worries alongside a Van de Ven. We’ve got a whole heap of total average to wade through.

Chavs couldn't stump up the cash... they didn't have enough PSR headroom.

He's young and inexperienced and probably confused by having 2 managers since he got there....give the kid a break..he's very talented..

He’s had good and bad games but you can’t dig him out for yesterday , he literally had one person infront of him , we played with wing backs that didn’t cross the halfway line . It was a total mess all round .
100% agree. Our system was a mess yesterday, we had a RB playing LWB and a CM playing RWB. Gallagher was playing some strange right sided role. The attacking structure was incoherent so I'm not sure how Xavi was supposed to link it all together.

I don't see we have any choice...
Might just have to see what anyone else can do if he carries on like that.
To suggest he's our only creative outlet when all he does is run into dead ends and give the ball away is over rating him.
As soon as Kudus is back, stick him in the no.10
Until then, try literally anyone. Even passing backwards and getting it to a team mate more often than not is better.

Quite a skilful player but not strong enough. Gets brushed off the ball too easily.
