After 6 games. Last season after 6 games we had 21 yellows.
After 7 we had 27!

27! Was that mostly Bissouma last year? Maybe Romero? Udogie? All three missed games due to yellow cards thinking about it. Romero hasn't been booked, nor has Bissouma this season!

:bissoumahear:

Lankshear misses the Europa game vs Roma after being sent off vs Gala.
Bissouma is on 2 yellows so he would miss the Rangers game if he picks up a booking next Thursday.
Kulu, Drag and Bentacur all on 1 yellow.

So Bissouma needs to avoid collect two yellows in our next four EPL games, to avoid a suspension while we're still without Bentancur...

When is game 19 (up to 5 yellow cards) , after which players can get up to 10 yellow cards until potential suspension suspension ?.

We have now played 12 games, is game 19 at end of December ?

Here are the rules for yellow cards in the Carabao Cup:
  • Two yellow cards
Players who receive two yellow cards in a single Carabao Cup campaign will be suspended for their next match.
  • Clean slate after the quarter-final
All yellow cards are wiped clean after the quarter-final.
  • Red cards
Red cards in the Carabao Cup count for all domestic competitions and carry across.
  • Automatic ban
Accumulated yellow cards in cup competitions can result in an automatic ban from the cup competition.
Yellow cards are competition-specific and do not carry over to other competitions, such as the Premier League or FA Cup.

So, going into the quarter final, we have Bissouma, Maddison, Gray and Sarr all on one yellow.

Here are all the players' totals after 18 games. As per above, Maddison and Bentacur both need to avoid ayellow to prevent a ban for the Newcastle game.
After the Barcodes game, bans will come after 10 yellows.
If 10 yellows come within 32 games there will be a 2 game ban.

Bentancur failed to read this thread, got his 5th yellow card and misses Newcastle game.

With 2 yellows each, Sarr and Maddison both miss the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi final.
All other yellows expired after the QFs.

EL Rules:

Because yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals (see Article 52.04), even if a player is cautioned in both legs of a victorious semi-final tie they cannot be suspended for the final.1 Jan 2024.

Assuming EFL rules are the same, then even if any player picks up a booking in both legs of the semi final, he would be available for the final.

Edit:
  • Red cards
Red cards in the Carabao Cup count for all domestic competitions and carry across.

We can breathe a little easier for a few games.
The next suspension will come after a player totals 10 yellows.
If they receive 10 yellows in the first 32 games, there will be a 2 game ban.

So is it a free for all on yellow cards in the last 6 games? Let's assume someone has 9 yellows after the 32nd game, they could then have 14 by the time the final game comes around and still not be banned?

No, from game 33 onwards, 10 yellows results in a one game ban.

2 yellow cards result in a one match ban. Cut off point is 6th round (quarter finals).
The ban will be in the FA Cup, not EPL.

AI Overview

Yellow cards received in the Premier League do not count towards a player's booking total in the FA Cup. Players who receive 10 yellow cards in their team's first 32 Premier League matches are suspended for two matches in that competition.

Just to cheer everyone up here is a list of players on 2 cautions who will miss the Elfsborg game if they pick up a third against Hoffenheim: Dragusin, Kulusevski, Bentacur (of course) and Bissouma (injured).
Bergvall and Lankshear are on one each.

Can't get a yellow card if you're not on pitch due to injury

I think none of them got a card v Hoffenheim - what happens if they get a yellow card v Elfsborg and we progress to knock out stages ?

Is there a change in numbers of YC's a player can get before a suspension once into the knock out stages ?

I think it continues the same tally from the league phase until the end of the quarter-finals when cards are wiped so they'll still be on 2 with a ban at 3,5,7 etc.
