The current Corona Virus pandemic has caused a massive distraught all over the world. The phenomenon not only leads to an unexpected high alert on public health but also pulled the economy into depression. Unsurprisingly, immediate cancellation of various sporting events was implemented following the advice of the experts from WHO – prohibit all public gatherings to prevent the further spread of the virus.

However, this suspension has caused a see-saw impact on the sports industry. In particular, among the popular sports immensely affected was football. Since the sport is one of the most prominent activities practiced and adored by millions of fans all over the world, the cancellation of events has caused potential revenue loss and melancholic impact to the public.

Postponed Events

As one of the most commended sports in the world, Football competitions and events can be a perfect set-up to spread the virus; this has pushed the instant postponement of activities for the said sport. However, the faith for the 2020 NFL season will be determined depending on the diligent actions of the governments as according to Dr. Anthony Fauci. Although NFL has released the season’s schedule, further adjustments will surely be made. Following this circumstance, the German Football League and France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel activities were also suspended and resumption is still being deliberated and is yet to be announced. Unfortunately, there is still a big probability that general football events will be allowed later this year.

Revenue Lost

Due to the postponement of the football events, sales in the industry have also reached its downpour. The average total revenue was estimated to lose billions of dollars for this year because of the failed commercial, match-day events, and broadcasting. Although the industry has online institutions were promotions of merchandises and betting games in sites like LottoPark website still able to continue with acute sales, these patches are not enough to cover the losses. Similar to other sports leagues, the football industry’s income plummets because of the ebbed advertising sponsorships, declined sales on media, and depleted ticketing.

Adopted Strategies

Undoubtedly, the entire sports industry is searching for ways to continue with the activities without adding additional wood to the burning pandemic. Unfortunately, holding big events is not yet included in the plans because hosting these occasions is still a great risk. Besides, accommodating land-based activities will cause further expenses because of the required cleanups and disinfection before and after the said activities.

In light of this, some football institutions have depended on social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube as the main platform for broadcasting football’s past and most iconic activities; although the footage used is considered aged, since this serves millions of fans waiting in their homes. For other circumstances, there are also versions of football where individuals can play, bet, and compete with each other through online sites like Powerball and Powerball resultados with the use of their gadgets and mobile phones.
