It goes ahead to explain the sport is more popular in America and Europe. In addition to creating millions of jobs for players, coaches, and other professionals, football has also presented a way of earning money for fans through football betting. Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020 

Various matches are going on to determine who will be the qualifiers for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020. This will be the 7th edition of this tournament. The games which were to be played from July 22nd to August 7th, 2020 were postponed to 23rd July- 8th August 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a pandemic that has caused a lot of changes in the football industry. The hosts of the tournament are Australia and Japan. In August 202 you can watch the semi-finals of the knockout phase. This will see W20 and W22 face off at the Ibaraki Kashima Stadium on 3rd August 2020. On the same day, W19 and W21 will also have a match at the International Stadium Yokohama. The 25th match will also be held at the Ibaraki Kashima Stadium on the 6th of August 2020 between RU23 and RU24. 7th August will also see W23 and W24 face off at the National Stadium Tokyo on the same date.

FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica/ Panama 2020  

The 10th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in August 2020 according to FIFA’s official website. The matches will be held in both Panama and Costa Rica. 2016 winners Korea DPR and defending champions Japan will represent Asia at the Tournament. Other countries that will participate include Korea Republic, Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Edinburgh Cup  

Another high-quality tournament you can anticipate in August 2020 is The Edinburgh Cup International Youth Football Festival. This is a tournament that has been organized to support and celebrate various youth football clubs from the UK, Scotland, and beyond. The set dates are 7th, 8th, and 9th August at the Peffermill Playing Fields. In a bid to include teams of all abilities, the festival will be offering both competitive and non-competitive tournaments for different age groups. The event will have 5 main categories i.e. 

  • An 11-a-side match for different age groups 
  • 9&7-a-side festival for U9 to U12 age category 
  • 5-a-side festival preserved for U8’s 
  • 4-a-side Festival for U6 and U7
  • 11, 9, 7, 5, and 4 –a side festival for U7s and U15’s (Girls only).

UEFA Champions League 2019/20

Estadio Jose Alvalade and Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Lisbon will receive plenty of football action between 12th -23rd August. This is because they will be hosting quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the finals of the UEFA Champions League. The matches will be played as a final 8 straight knock-out tournament. The remaining round of 16 matches will be played on 7/8th August depending on a decision on whether the games will take place in Portugal or the home team’s stadiums. 

UEFA Europa League 2019/20 

Gelsenkirchen and Cologne, Duisburg will hold the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals of the final 8 straight knock-out tournament. This will happen between 10th to 21st August. The round of 16 will happen earlier as the matches will kick off from 5th or 6th August. Stakeholders are yet to decide on the exact date.

One Tournament 

This is a unique tournament that will happen in one day crowning one winning. Two types of tournaments will go on

  • One Tournament National – This is a fresh regional grassroots competition that accommodates U8-U15. The winner of the tournament will proceed to the St Georges Park for the National Finals. 
  • ●      One Tournament England Experience – The tournament will be held at St Georges Park National Football Centre. The August 2020 dates have been set aside for the 19-20 age groups. 

UEFA Women’s Champions League 

The remaining matches in this competition will be held on the 21st and 22nd August. These will happen at the Anoeta Stadium located in San Sebastian and Bilbao at the San Mames Stadium. Semi-finals will kick off later on between 25 and 26th August. The final match will take place on 30th August in San Sebastian at 20.00 CET.
