Ex-Spurs Player Kyle Walker

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He fit's Pep's style - Pep doesn't do defenders, and Walker is no defender. Add to that an "unreliable" first touch and no consistent crossing, andyou have to ask what do we lose? If it's wing pace, you can push that higher up until KWP gets enough experience to make the slot his own.

Also, can anyone name a defender Poch has sold since coming to the PL that got better when they left him?

He's been a loyal servant, but as everyone points out, his head was clearly turned before Easter, and £50ish mil for a player we already have cover for is not to be sniffed at

While I agree. I'm upset that he hasn't shown the same loyalty to us as we showed to him when he was dogshit and making a mistake at least once a match. Some may still hold him in high regards. But I've lost a lot of respect for him personally.

The money is the plus point of this transfer. However, selling to a rival might not be the smartest idea for several reasons. Something which has been pointed out is that the transfer will strengthen them. This is true, they probably will be a better team as a result. Another point to consider though is the effect it might have on the rest of the team. The players now know we will sell to Premiership rivals. Those who are not, let's just say, fully committed to the cause might just get their agents to kick up a fuss.
I don't expect any of our players to go all out for a move any time soon, but it will certainly be in their minds.

Honestly I hoped this would not happen anytime soon, but it looks like it will. I'll just keep it short, I fucking hate City and their dirty money just like Chelsea, PSG, these clubs, no, these owners destroy the football as it is and it's becoming more and more business and people hungry for money. This leaves me extremely disappointed.
Secondly, not sure if there was a row between Walker and Pochettino, if there was, they should have sorted it out imo, Walker is a very good player and as much as you'd say a right back is easy to replace, please let me know of another attacking fullback willing to join us.
Also, that means we strengthened a rival, doesn't matter if it's for a year or two, we weakened ours, as much as some of you like to deny it, that's the truth. It also makes me fear that more players will see the club as a stepping stone now and will leave once they get unsettled by other clubs money and media.

Who are we gonna get to replace him? Trippier could work, then who's gonna back Trippier up? Walker-Peters? Not sure the kid is still ready. Imagine what happens if Trippier is to get a long term injury the next week after transfer window closes.

And lets not forget , the lovely CB pairing of JV/Toby definitely allowed Walker to be more aggressive on the attack (knowing full well his defensive limitations would be covered by the CB pairing). I don't see City having that same luxury which could be detrimental to Walker's impact for Oil FC.

I agree with the sentiment however to play under Poch you have to be "fully committed to the cause" or you will be sold. I assume it has played a huge part of the reason why he's gone (and not selected for certain games at the end of last season).

Never happy when a starting player is sold to a domestic rival, but this is far from the sales of Berba, Carrick, Modric and Bale. Walker is not on that level (but he is probably the best RB/RWB in the league) and the fee is nice to look at. I'm assuming, due to all that we've been hearing, that this was cleared by Poch and I wonder whether Walker will be as good without Poch. If he is, and we fail to replace him - internally or through a signing - it's a loss for us. If he isn't, we sold at the right time.

Money talks.

They aren't done yet. They will definitely sign a left back this window, probably another centre-back as well.

In theory you're right, but we are not as big a club as Citeh at the moment. So we have to be pragmatic. It's what we've done over the last 15 years trying to close the gap on the biggest teams and it has worked. The difference now to a few years back is that the player leaving our team for a world record at his position, is not our best player. Not even our second best player. Hell, he's probably not even in our top five or six best players. And we have a very capable backup for him already who has proven he can do the job. We have to balance not strengthening a rival and weakening ourselves with trying to become a bigger club. that's done by making profit and reinvesting. We're making a huge profit on Walker. And above all else there is the human aspect of things - Kyle presumably wants to go, and when a player wants to go what use is it trying to stand in the way? Especially when Poch's best work is done by achieving a good team togetherness.

We may not have the money and therefore the long term staying power at the top as City but right now we are a team full of players worth more then 50m. So he may not be the best player in our team but is by far the best right back in the country. He should be offered a new deal (maybe it wont be as good as the one city give) but we should at least negotiate. Unless we pay the wages to match someone's transfer value then they will be off. Otherwise as I say, it opens the door to others. He may want to go but I'm sure he could be persuaded to stay from a manager that has made him the best in his position in the country. We have ready made cover yes, but with two great right backs and plenty of cover all over the team, we finished 2nd and won no trophies. We obviously want to better that so we need to strengthen our squad not weaken. Yes we could reinvest in an area that needs 50m of spending more. That's fine, but a 50m rated player will demand 150k+ and we aren't prepared to pay that so that money will not be spend on improving our squad. Maybe a young player for the future, and thats great but to really be a team winning things we do also need some ready made stars. Hopefully this is all a made up story and we aren't selling.

I believe Sheffield United get 10% of the sell on, so I believe that Levy wants that on the fee. A big sale generally kick starts the market. We have people in Lisbon talking about Silva and their right back, this could be where the Walker money is going.
They have good CL experience, and would fit into the Club's rotation. I do not believe that we sell a player and then think, "who shall we buy?"
After the Bale fiasco we have been stealing players for relatively buttons. The market has moved up a couple of gears with the profanity of the Sky money, with Swansea turning down £40m for Gyffy, ffs!
If we do sign the above by the way, put me down as the 'ITK's' bollocks.
