Ex-Spurs Player Kyle Walker

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Swings and roundabouts. To be fair to him he hung around when we were a shower of shit, managers coming and going – then Poch made him a decent defender.

I can't imagine he found out about wages whilst on England duty, we know certain clubs pay obscene money, so do all the players, they probably know more about it than us!

The realisation must have set in that his big payday was potentially passing him by. He has two years left at the top and needs to maximise his earnings. It's not for us to say he already earns lots of money, he should try and earn a big wedge if it makes a difference to his and his families life, I would.

So, sure I have a bitter taste as for all the 'we're on the rise' talk it knocks us back down a level... Poch did say however nobody in his plans would be sold so the only thing I hold onto is he was surplus and that's why tripper got lots of time at the end of last season. I understand lots of people aren't big fans of Tripps but I love what he brings to the team in the way of delivery and with Toby and Jan covering it's a formation that I feel will pay dividends.

Will we bring in another couple of big names? I'm not so sure but I like these youngsters we're linked with, we'll get more loyalty from someone rising with the club than some big time Charlie.

Going home shortly, on the journey I will feel a little empty i'm sure but nothing compared to the sick feeling of seeing Berba @ Old Trafford talking to Fergie.

We were never a shower of shit during Walker's tenure and Walker wasn't always the player he is today. I think both sides got a fair shake up to this point.

Crap news, crap situation. Lets not pretend we havent significantly weakened ourselves at City's gain.
Now we can spend the whole summer looking for a RB just to get back to where we are now.

Oh well, shame that Kyle decided not to be part of the journey with us. I cant slate him, but I wont applaud him.
Greed wins the day, again.

Lets hope that the rest of the team are extra motivated to shove it up him next season.

So, at least can we all agree on this
The next time the club pulls off one of these publicity stunts, it has nothing to do with the long term success on the pitch, but everything to do with the long term profiteering of our owners

Something clearly changed...maybe the rumours of a bust up had legs after all. I dont believe it was a publicity stunt, but Poch has shown that no one is bigger than Spurs, and if you dont show the right attitude you are gone.

Bye Kyle, onwards we go.

We may not have the money and therefore the long term staying power at the top as City but right now we are a team full of players worth more then 50m. So he may not be the best player in our team but is by far the best right back in the country. He should be offered a new deal (maybe it wont be as good as the one city give) but we should at least negotiate. Unless we pay the wages to match someone's transfer value then they will be off. Otherwise as I say, it opens the door to others. He may want to go but I'm sure he could be persuaded to stay from a manager that has made him the best in his position in the country. We have ready made cover yes, but with two great right backs and plenty of cover all over the team, we finished 2nd and won no trophies. We obviously want to better that so we need to strengthen our squad not weaken. Yes we could reinvest in an area that needs 50m of spending more. That's fine, but a 50m rated player will demand 150k+ and we aren't prepared to pay that so that money will not be spend on improving our squad. Maybe a young player for the future, and thats great but to really be a team winning things we do also need some ready made stars. Hopefully this is all a made up story and we aren't selling.

He may have been offered a new deal for all we know, and rejected it. Or we may have decided that it would be pointless as he's made it clear he wants to go? Or Poch and Levy may simply think that although he is the best RB in the country the fee is worth selling considering everything on balance.

We don't need to splash out £50M and £150k a week on one player to improve the squad though, that's what Citeh do, it's easier if you have the cash to do that, but it is not necessary. Even for players that are ready now to play in the first team, you don't need to do that. My bet is that we will improve our squad with the money from the Walker sale and be a better team/squad as a result.

I see. But big clubs usually sell the ones they don't want to lesser clubs, not there best players to potential rival clubs.

We are fighting with the so called big clubs or oil clubs through the very thing you are complaining about. Buy low, sell high.

There's also an £800m stadium being built that will help us compete with them but until construction started you infamously denied it was happening.

We have no right to be anywhere close to where we are performing on almost every financial stat.

Make your mind up.

Maybe Kyle Walker Peters is a better player. We will have to see. Will be shit though when we see walker turning out for that mob.

It will be shit seeing Walker in their kit, I agree. I despise seeing our ex players in other team's kits. However it could be worse. I'd hate it more if it were Woolwich, Chelsea, or even Real. And Walker has earned it, he's been with us a long time putting up with some truly shocking managers over the years, I think he's earned the right to leave if he wants to.

It all started on international duty in March apparently.

The cup semi had some stories too.....

Im ok with Poch getting Trippier up to scratch over the pre season actually, with KWP as back up.
Dissappointing news, feels like we had a Spurs family....but maybe to keep that, the money grabbers need to leave, so....

Lets hope he and City fail spectacularly......again....next season

I've heard Pereira being referred to as the Portuguese Trippier.
Pereira is nothing like Tripp's. He is much closer to Walker's and Rose's athleticism, he's got a fair bit of pace and is skilful enough to run with the ball and take on opposing players. Not going to get drawn to much on direct comparisons with Walker as haven't see enough of him and I way too biased in favour of Walker (going to have to work that out of my system) but if we are in for him than he's a good signing IMO.

Surely you can see that I wasn't even being the slightest bit serious?

Was Walker ever part of the 'family' though? It always seemed to be Lamela/Rose, Eriksen/Kane, Alli/Dier, Dembele/Vertonghen etc. - Walker never seems to be hanging around with the other Spurs lads, he just seems to be there.

That's the one thing I worry about though, how a foreign player who speaks Portuguese (Pereira) will come in and be part of the unity we already have.

LUCKILY though, him and Dier were at Sporting Lisbon at the same time and are the EXACT same age so hopefully that helps.

Walker always seemed well liked.
