I am really shocked to read some people on here saying we don't need to buy. As if the EPL is already won. What are you thinking! We just sold walker and only have one recognised RB in Trippier. We have 4 major competitions. You can't just throw youngsters and expect magic, the young players will develop and come good with time, they aren't ready yet. We are playing at Wembley, proven hard for the senior players let alone the youngsters.
We don't know when Rose is back. Is Lamela match fit in 4 weeks time? Son still injured? Sissoko / Janssen staying?
We do have strong team in the PL but not in the CL. We have to win something this season. We need to strengthen the squad to achieve this. The club can't afford and not in position to sign marquee players but there is money to add good quality squad players.
Bang on. It is so annoying hearing the same people call anyone who brings this up a melt. I don't really get it, it is okay to disagree. As far as I can see no one is asking for us to break the bank or even change our starting 11. I can't imagine Poch sitting there being totally happy with the squad. We can focus entirely on the league, and we might win it because I don't see any better starting 11, I really don't, but we don't have the squad to compete on all fronts. That seems patently obvious to me.

Got to admit it's pretty frustrating if reports are true that Juan Foyth is now going to PSG.

Obviously I know zero about him and we never know what's actually going on behind the scenes but if reports are true that we are missing out solely because we've Fannied about in negotiations over such a minor signing then it's pretty poor from Levy.

That'll be the same press that were telling everyone how Conte was going to leave the <removed>s because they weren't spending money until today when they announced he has signed a new 2yr contract.

The Foyth/Barkley stuff is pure guesswork/speculation/click bait bollocks.

This is the first season in years where i am completely Zen about transfers. If they happen fine, if not, i don't care.

... he absolutely destroys one bloke who thinks he is being clever by saying we will be the same, reminding him that our points total we got last year would have won the title in all but two years in the history of the PL ergo if we stayed the same there is a 95% chance of us winning the league by staying the same.

Except that isn't strictly true. Here's a list of 1st and 2nd place points total since 1996 (first year of 20 teams)

Yr 2nd 1st
96 78 82
97 68 75
98 77 78
99 78 79
00 73 91
01 70 80
02 80 87
03 78 83
04 79 90
05 83 95
06 83 91
07 83 89
08 85 87
09 86 90
10 85 86 (Chelsea GD +71)
11 71 80
12 89 89
13 78 89
14 84 86
15 79 87
16 71 81
17 86 93

So out of 21 of the previous 38 game seasons we would have finished with more points than 1st place on 9 occasions. Or still finished 2nd on 11 occasions. Or 41% of the time we would have been champions with our points haul and goal difference.

What is true to say is that it is the equal 2nd highest points total for a second placed team. The 2nd placed team only equalled or bettered our total in '09 and '12.

You only buy to improve though (significantly enough to justify blocking youth) - so far no one achievable has moved who I am bothered about - crazy market this year and again we are waiting until the end of the window to see if a deal can be made.

May be worth having notifications on for spursofficial on Twitter if you haven't already.

Possibly another announcement today

I started that way but we do need to make some signings if we want to push on. And the later they happen the less time Poch has to get their fitness levels up and integrate them.

If we had signed Barkley on day 1 and did nothing else I'd be happy. If we now sign Barkley on deadline day and do nothing else then I'll question why we are the only team that can't just get deals done.

In complete agreement. There is a huge dose of Spurs blinkers here and to slightly contest your view I think we have a starting 11 equal to 2 or 3 teams and a squad depth that is not as strong as any of those mentioned.

We need additions and one or two with experience. We do have to win or get very close again to winning something and right now people are too easy to believe Pochettino is a magician.

That we are nearing the end of July and nothing yet in terms of signings is a worry. That too many talk of who could possibly make us better/get in the starting line-up etc even more a sign of delusion to me.

That was a very good read.

Yeah i thought so too. Don't agree with it verbatim. But agree that standing still isn't the same as going backwards. Despite what other teams are doing.

Even then - keeping this amazing squad together and allowing them to improve as individuals and collectively under the same system; consistency (i.e.something we haven't seen at Spurs in absolute donkeys) shouldn't be seen as standing still.

The right signings can improve the squad no doubt, but this concept of "winning" or "losing" the transfer window is for the kids playing Fifa.

Signing players for the sheer hell of it can be detrimental. I think its time we showed the management team some faith and respect for the vast and consistent improvement we have seen over the last three years.

Seems that you are also a bit delusional to me to be honest in that you are completely oblivious to our predicament.

I'm perfectly happy how things are going too, thought I'd be more upset by the Walker transfer to be honest as I thought it was never going to happen...but, with the exception of Dier, none of the rest of the squad seem to have any rumours connecting them to any other "bigger" teams.

JJ etset ( everyone's favourite "ITK" has basically said any reports this morning coming out that Barkley has signed and will be announced is fake. Over on Spurs community they are like little lap dogs hanging off every word of a supposed ITK.

One ITK snippet comes in saying Barkley should be announced then JJ the fucktard dismisses it, suddenly it goes from full blown excitement to meltdown in a matter of seconds. Not to mention the Adolf Hitler of the forum "A & C" who feels the need to ban anyone that dares mention anything negative towards the "ITK" on the site the silly prick!!!
