A lot of well respected people in the game are suggesting our outmoded pay structure needs to be changed to allow us to push on. Souness just the other day was saying we can't keep on expecting to compete on the cheap. Again, with respect mate, I trust the considered thoughts of well respected ex pro's than the words of a ranting maniac like you.
This is true, but which other top six side is building a new stadium? Well respected my arse. They're just stating the obvious. Pundits and fans expect us to run before we can walk. In some respects I wish we had not had our recent success and it came instead after the new stadium was built. Competing at the top has only increased fan expectation ten fold. We won't be in a position to pay mega bucks for probably three to four seasons at minimum. We are punching above our weight right now. We are a long term project and we must be prepared to see peaks and troughs in the short term when it comes to the level at which we compete. Over the long term we have steadily improved and that will continue. There will come a time when we can pay the bigger salaries and transfer fees and truly compete, but fans need to be reasonable and understand that we just aren't there yet.

It's funny how many people seem to forget that some of the best players in the Premier League cost very little and were well nurtured by their clubs. Scholes, Giggs, Bale came to us very young for a small fee, Harry Kane, Gerrard, John Terry. The list goes on. Yet everyone is desperate for that next big Spanish superstar.

Also, 60m on Isco seems dumb as shit when you consider we already have Eriksen and Dele. Bit like us spunking 75 on Lukaku.
John Terry is not a big player he is a big other peoples wives fucker.

I really don't get why everyone is getting so worked up on us making a 'marquee' signing?

What defines a marquee signing? Their transfer fee? Us breaking our own fee record on them?
How has that worked out recently with the likes of David Bentley, Roberto Soldado and Moussa Sissoko?

Is it just a big name in football that everybody recognises?
Because Di Maria helped United smash the league when he signed. Woolwich have been dominate with Mesut Ozil. And Paul Pogba has probably spent the summer cleaning his Premier League winners medal from last season...

Yes we sometimes miss out on targets because of Levy being 'tight' and yes we need to strengthen the squad this summer. But everyone throwing a strop about us not splashing the cash needs to get a grip - we're building an £800m stadium for f**k sake!

Other than Chelsea, everyone else is strengthening to close the gap on US. Look at where we are now compared to when Levy/ENIC took over...if you still harp on about #ENICout then you're a moron...

Dont think we need to completely revamp our pay structure, I think currently the players can see the vision and know something big is happening at the club. But saying that I think these next 2 seasons are crucial, if we continue to compete but have nothing to show for it I think the likes of Dele and Christi looking at other clubs who can double their wages.

Look at our Revenues compared to the other top six and that shows why we lag (have to lag) in wages. I cant believe we get our players to sign long term contracts, Trippier just signed up for 70K apparently the same as Linguard.

I can sum up what a marque signing is....any one of our starting 11!

Now how many years in the past have we been able to say that!? Any team in the league would view any one of our players as a marque signing.

Of course I want us to make some signings, and soon, but I'm not obsessed about them being "marque".

Mate if Barkley was ours they'd all want to upgrade on him this very window.

"Maybe a straight swap for Sissoko!!"

If Winks was on the bench at Everton they'd want to spend 30M on him and let Poch turn him into Modric.

Remember when Bony and Berahino would have won us the title by now.....

"Just pay the asking fee Levy you tight bald cunt"....

Well one was on coke and the other was 150kg, and crap.
Sorry - but are you suggesting we shouldn't ever sign any players because it involves potential risk?

Apart from Kane - none of our current superstars first 11 have been Academy products but astute transfers instead
