Didn't a clause in the Bale transfer say that we had the option to match any bid and that he couldn't sign for the other team over us if we did?

Surely, in theory, we could scupper the transfer safe in the knowledge that he would never accept terms with us for what we would offer him in wages?
 
I read here of offers or something like that of £25m for Jansen, I would sell him as couldn't see any improvement in recent friendlies.

Exactly, all speculation with no quotes. All these comments just fuel jurno BS and give the moaners something to agree with. It's the problem with social platforms, they learn what you read and only pass you news you will interact with so now new opinions, just the same stuff you can spend your life agreeing with...

yes but only for a period of 72hrs I think. Also is manure offer £100m and £250k a week we would have to offer the same. I think the club then have to accept our offer but not sure it means the player does. I expect Bale's love for us is well and truly over. I loved seeing him play for us but think he could be a sicknote. We have all struggled with Lamella on the treatment table, how would we fee after spanking that sort of cash?

I would be gutted with this. I think he could turn into a legend and not the Rebrov type. I personally feel the lad is very technical and super strong in body and mind. If he got 5+ goals under his belt I think there would be no stopping him. If he was our only forward and he had been here 2-3 seasons I would perhaps agree but not yet.

Even if we match the bid he has to agree in principle which I cannot see happening. Plus Levy would never pay 70-90m

Yeah thats my point, sorry maybe didnt phrase it very well.

We match the bid purely just to scupper theirs. I doubt we would have to match the contract offer, just the transfer fee? And as you say, no way he would sign for what we could offer wage wise.

100k a week and he gets to drive the bus on the victory parade.

Yup, that would make me laugh seeing Levy taking this as far as he can get it then pulling out at the last minute :levywtf:

From Bale's side I would see this as a step backwards, he needs another two seasons out there to prove he is 'big time' as they seem to hang onto their golden boys a little longer. Once he gets to this point he will be on a downwards curve and he will be going somewhere for very different reasons. Personally at that point I wouldn't really care where he ended up!

I loved seeing him in our shirt, he was amazing for us in so many ways, put us on the map again in modern football after being lost for so long but I don't have the love for him that I have for some other players. :kaneshh:

Has Bale ever shown any real love towards us that would indicate he would ever consider coming back? You never see it in stuff like social media, unlike Soldado or VdV who chat about Tottenham all the time when given the chance.

I'm sure he loved being with us when he was with us but seems now that he only views us as a career move

I can't see signs of anything like that. All I see an immobile but strong with limited technical ability. Rebrov was much better.
He reminds me of Iain Dowie.
I hope he develops to a better player.

I think he would be welcomed back its his brother in law who would struggle to get admitted to the new stadium!

yup totally and that was kinda my point, I don't have the feeling for him as I do some other players. The two you mentioned are great examples of players who still seem to value their time with us
