West Ham - League cup game

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bill

I understand what are you saying. But winning a league cup wouldn't bring that much to us. At least, others would be as always make fun of us for celebrating that trophy. But I get what you mean. Of course, evey cup would be good, but this club is now competing for bigger things so I'm not that upset about this tonight. For sure, it's embarrassing, but I would rather take 3 points on saturday than win tonight. Hope we will.

People aren't getting the point.

The draw of winning this competition isn't the money, the lack of prestige or what competition it sets us up for - ITS A FUCKING TROPHY, that's the draw.

Pochettino gets his hand on a trophy with Tottenham. The players get a sense of what it feels like to win a cup. The 'easiest' cup to win.
People understand what you are saying they just disagree with it. Anyway they won that trophy in Hong Kong so they know what it’s all about.

:sonpoint:

Also, ill just say this before people start trying to play the blame game and questioning the clubs decision making.

£100,000 is the prize money for winning this comp. £10K. And a place in the Europa League.

Barely enough to pay Sissoko's wages for a week.

The pedigree of the competition is at an all time low with them not even bothering to hold the draw in this country any more.

Now, i'm not saying it's right. I am desperate for us to win a trophy with this team, if anything to get the fucking pundits to stop saying "well they need to win something" in order to justify how good we are. And this clearly is the easiest competition to win.

But when we took home £38m for participating in the CL last year without even getting out of the group stages. You can see why any club that wishes to remain financially relevant prioritises finishing 4th in the league over winning this sorry excuse for a domestic cup.

Again, im not saying its right, hate the player not the game and all that.

By all means say that this is just damage control because we lost, but i have made these points plenty of time before (normally during a massive cunt off after we've been knocked out! lol!)
I hear what you're saying. But you're making the business case, not the football case. Has the sport lost so much that there is no pride simply in winning a cup? The players tonight acted like they didn't really care about that. It was a good enough team to comfortably win, not a bunch of kids. So the prize money maybe isn't that great, but do the players not think that there is still glory in any major trophy? Just the fact of winning the trophy itself? That they didn't seem to is what I find sad. I'd have been delighted to see us lift the cup in the spring and it just feels that the players don't share the pleasure in that thought that I do. I think that's why this result bothers me more than maybe it does others.

Bollox. Where we have got to now as a club has taken years and years. It's a cumulative thing. It's not based purely on our last result. Tonight doesn't fucking undo our performance in Madrid, or last Sunday. Its a knock of confidence for sure and yeah the media might run with "old spursy back again" but honestly who gives a fuck about them desperately trying to sell papers / get clicks in a dying and over bloated industry.

City lose games, Chelsea lose games, Utd lose games. Barcelona lose games. When we do it its "Lol typical spurs" and its probably not helped by the fact that it's a lot of our own supporters who perpetrate that belief.
Losing games that matter is never a good sign.

Saying a trophy is a trophy is bullshit. It's about kudos. There's very little kudos in pulling a fat bird in a nightclub. It's just a notch on the bed post, and that's all the Carabao Cup is, a notch on the bed post that egoists like Mourinho and Pep want to add to their tallies. Poch only wants stunners with big firm tits.

He's a classy lad our Poch.
