West Ham - League cup game

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Its their cup final, course they wanted it more. Weve got United, Real and Dortmund to come.
It happens, shit happens, just goes to show we are not perfect.....yet.

Would rather have won but considering the games we have been playing, if I had to choose a game to lose then this is the one I could stomach the most.

On to the next game.
Agree but it still doesn't make losing to that lot any easier especially after being 2-0 up.
Think we just lost focus and got complacent in the second half thinking it was in the bag. Enough experienced players in the starting line up to have brought it home and we should have been better than that. Hopefully Poch will use it as a wake up call ahead of some key games which on balance are more important to our season.

And nobody cares about their recent cup wins. Cups don’t matter these days - they used to, but they don’t anymore. Most commentators (rightly) think we’re a level above woolwich. Football has changed from your day.
Doesn't mean that change is necessarily good.

If we won the league and FA Cup this year would we boast that we'd won the league or the double?

We haven't won a competition as big as the league in more than half a century. We've never won the CL or European Cup as it used to be. Can we really afford to say "cups don't matter anymore"? If Poch and key players left and we were in a position to only realistically win a domestic cup would they still not matter to us? Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Shitty and the scum, earned or bought, have the major trophies in their recent history. We don't. So do we really have the standing to say they don't matter?

I dunno, it just seems to me to be a bit arrogant if we act like they don't matter. It's one of the few things I don't like hearing from Poch, which he pretty much said earlier this week. I feel it is a doubled edged sword because while I accept it tries to instil belief in the players for the big games, it also seems to instil some arrogance in them when it comes to lesser games and opposition.

I agree with Salmon

Not one single team tries in the league cup, everyone makes multiple changes and plays in front of empty stadiums.

No bottle, weak mentality all over the pitch. No wonder we have won fuck all in a decade and counting.

What an embarrassing show!

When we won the League Cup in 2008 very few people gave us much respect. Even though we've won nothing since, we're respected as a force in the Premier League. "Lads, it's Tottenham," has become, "Lads... it's Tottenham." And increasingly in European football we're being seen as a team you'd rather avoid.

Poch will be fuming with how our lack of control lost that game. We were cruising and the players out there should have done better. It was complacency and a lack of concentration that lost that game and those are not good traits for the individuals at fault.

We should also be making sure that Spam don’t have any tiny glimmer of hope or positivity at the moment, although, judging by their celebrations, it seems that their season is triumphant and they might just forget to turn up in the league for a bit.

That "nobody cares about cup wins", that "cups don’t matter these days"

You or anyone else
But they don’t. Look at woolwich. 3 out 4 FA cups and everyone thinks they’re shit - even their own fans. I might not agree with it from the comfort of my living room, but professional football clubs have always gone where the money is - it’s the definition of ‘professional’ and the PL and the CL is where the money is. Obviously this didn’t apply before the TV money came in - clubs took the cups seriously because of the money brought in by the attendances of the extra games played, but that hasn’t been the case for years.

I didn’t mean to be patronising, but football - like it or not - has moved on. Top clubs will always prioritise where the money is. It has never been different.

Would rather have won than lost, but it was the least important game of the season in my view

Surely the last round was less so by your logic, so why bother trying to oust Shrewsbury... They'd have probably knocked Spam out!

I hate all this 'its beneath us' bullshit.

"Its only for the fans"????

Thats YOU, you muppets! :pochfacepalm:
