Quite refreshing that he chose to stay at Aberdeen and no just fall into the "only teams" in Scotland are the erse cheeks! But will Stewarty boy dig deep give and give him the funds to at least keep Aberdeen the best of the rest?

Interesting to see how this pans out for him.

He's lost any chance of ever becoming Rangers manager.
He's not going to be flavour of the month with the Sheep after he went as far as discussing who he was going to pick in the starting line-up for Rangers match on Saturday before pulling out of talks.
His stock will be at a very low ebb and should he do well with Aberbaabaa no one will want him as he keeps ducking out of deals, Sunderland being another team he backed away from.

You could argue the decline in Scottish football started in the mid eighties when souness rocked up with his big vision! They signed player after player mostly English at the start then followed it up with mediocre foreign players with the odd exception Laudrup! Other teams followed Celtic,Aberdeen ect all at the expence of young Scottish players and they were lost to the league and the national team with the result we were getting guys playing for Scotland who were English who would never get a game for England but had a Scottish granny and had never been to Srcotland in their life. But in the mean time vast amounts of money filtered through the English game lower leagues and Scottish teams can't compete it's a sad state of affairs that two years ago Rotherham could attract the then Hibs manager Alan Stubbs who had just won the cup down the road, fecking Rotherham Jesus!! Yes Scottish football is grim it is what it is but you cant say that West Brom v Stoke is gonna get the pulses racing? Money is the big issue it is king and England have the resources and the population to hold it up there's 5million people in the whole of Scotland
and bare in mind half the folk that are into football support the erse cheeks all the other teams get a minimum support there's a lot of work to do. Rumour has it McInnes Aberdeen manager is favourite for the Rangers job......so if true back to square one!
he employed the spend, spend tactic when Liverpool used to find players or develop them.
IMO that’s was the beginning of the demise of Liverpool. They have never been the same club.

He still speaks like that now. “ you need to spend, spend, spend”

I think Rodgers doing the same thing
Buying mostly from PL/championship/legaue one or Europe.
Most of the Scottish player bought from Scottish leagues are young prospect and loaned out

A think a third of the signings in the summer of PL and Championship clubs we from non English clubs.
English football is suffering too, but we have a bigger pool

Having lived in Scotland I tired of the religious bigotry associated with both of them

I lived with a Rangers fan a few years ago when in a shared house. Over 20 years older than me, and a total nutter. Nice enough bloke most of the time, but he was obsessed with Rangers and Chelsea. Saw him in tears once after watching Celtic win a game (wasn’t even against Rangers).

I grew tired of his drunken religious rants pretty quickly. He was an Orangeman too, which led to many ‘pissing on my cornflakes’ conversations.

He’s dead now, and I do miss him, but he always reminds me of the futility of spending your life with so much negative emotions.

I’ve met a few Glaswegians who thought nothing of adding Guinness to cornflakes!!
