Ex-Spurs Player Toby Alderweireld

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Absolutely shocking if we let of the best centre backs in the world leave because his salary demand is 40k higher per week than offered. That's less than half of what we pay Sissoko! Quality over quantity please! We can't be dumping 90k per week on guys like Sissoko and not pay Toby his due!

Yes probably making Toby highest paid makes some of the other players also get more in salary, but we need to handle it one way or the other! Toby's been on 50k per week for the past 2-3 years when he's clearly been one of the best we have ever had! So we have been underpaying him by a huge amount, so he's worth going the extra bit because we have been getting him for cheap the past few years!

There was a club before him and there will be a club after him.

I look forward to seeing Foyth and Sanchez develop.

In all fairness our salaries are in keeping with our financial well being.
If we had just "paid them what they wanted" for the last decade, there wouldn't be a new ground.

It's not just about Toby, or even Kane.

This club will leave a legacy and if Kyle Walker or whoever don't want to be part of it, and want "what they're worth" in Manchester or Spain, then as far as I'm concerned they can just fuck off.

The whole thing has so many similarities with Rose......aren't we 15 games unbeaten and on our best run under Pochs era in terms of results in massive games.

Where was Toby? Nowhere really expect a shit performance against 4th division oppo.

Not slating him, but this is a squad, and Poch has made it clear that if you're not in, well, you're out.

And I for one applaud it.

why ? why should we sell the best we have ? are we not making a transformation to an elite club ? why do fans so protective about wages ?
our revenue is going to be a lot larger and the wage cap percentage need to grow with it . if we will keep sell players just because wages we will never make the final step and also never attract the big players or mange to keep them .

For me toby signing a contract will be a proof of intention to push higher .

As fans we don't know what the club can afford.
People making wild assumptions about wages.

The facts are this:
Spurs will not go into debt. We have a policy and we stick to it.

Our academy is our investment which will give us some protection in future from mercenary behaviour.

It's all on the Spurs website, our plans our goals our visions our policy.

It's about time people started to actually know their history and understand the club they support. We will never do it the Liverpool way, operating at 300M debt and buying players and paying wages on ghost money that we expect to earn in the next five years.

Accept it or don't but for fucks sake stop banging on about how we should just pay this and pay that. People have no idea what they are talking about.

Acting as if a billion pound ground is now fuck all.

So some random bloke posts on Twitter that he’s gone and this leads to us saying it’s not a problem and he’s not going to be that much of a miss anyway?

When players are injured for any other club, their repuatation actually grows. Fans wonder what they’d be like if their player was fully fit again and the longer they don’t play, the better they become. As an example, ask a gooner about Cazorla. He’s better than Pele.

However, we seem to go the opposite way. Toby is out, we are doing well, therefore he’s not going to be a loss. Lamela spent months out and when he came back, it was a bit meh. Same for Wanyama.

Tony would be a massive loss to the club. And I trust the club are doing all they can to keep him and I’m not going to remove the toys from my Pham just because of some twitter post.

I understand that we have to be somehat frugal with wages but a too stringent policy will eventually result in many of our top players being sold .
Surely going slightly into debt with increased revenue from Britain's 2nd highest capacity, extra sponsorship from retaining the best will cover it or certainly service it .
Too loose Walker one year then Toby next would only confirm our image as the "Nearly Men " even if this may be unfair.

This this and this.

I like Sanchez but he's most definitely better in a 3 than a back 4. More pressure on his ability to play out from the back in a back 4. Foyth looks promising on his few appearances but hasn't even played a PL game yet. Attempts to suggest it's ok to lose Toby based off Sanchez and Foyth is very optimistically slanted. We simply aren't. We average 2.1 ppg with Toby and that dropped to 1.8 in his latest injury spell, so we're actually a tad worse off.

Don't compare us to fucking Woolwich.

Also, we're 15 games unbeaten with wins at home to United and Woolwich and draws away to Liverpool and Juve. I think it's safe to say, as good as Toby is, he isn't as integral as we thought before his injury. Sanchez has proven to be a serious alternative and we're now on our best run of the season.

Toby would be a loss as he's a good player. But on the list of players to lose and it be a catastrophe, he's far down it now thanks to Sanchez. Before his injury I'd have put him with Eriksen and Kane. But now, we've proven we can beat big clubs without him and get massive results away without him. He's now below Kane, Eriksen, Dembele, Vertonghen and Lloris on that list.

It's ok to adjust your opinion accordingly based on the facts.

Also, it's not just because of a random article and Twitter post. His national manager, Roberto Martinez, came out on T.V. (stupidly) saying he spoke to Toby and he's having contract issues.

I trust Poch to make the right decision regards to him. Fingers crossed he signs as he's brilliant, but if not, Sanchez is our future and I'll be going all on him and further, Juan Foyth.

Also, that big old stadium opening will mean raises across the board. Not sure why this isn't getting into people's brains. Moaning about people not getting raises in February when it's been forecast 6 months later, when our avenues of revenue will spike, that raises will be coming is stupid.

If certain players can't wait, when Harry Kane, the most deserving player of all, is, then there's the door.

As Adebayor would put it #lifesgood #Godisgreat
It's all you have isn't it, you silly little adolescent?
An obsession with insults based around my declining mental health and whatever medication you believe me to be taking. So in effect, without any form of evidence to support your insults, you continue to trot out the same tired and impotent attempts at put downs or ridicule.
I however have absolutely no need to insult or ridicule you - like everyone else on here, we simply wait for your next post and point out the massive flaws in it.
You are quite the most pathetic poster I have had the miserable privilege of witnessing on a public forum, which given that it was once infested with Gibbs, is some achievement.
Yet again I have voted you for censure and a red card for your pathetic attempts at trolling and bizarre sexist attempts at insulting posters.
You're a joke, do us all a favour and grow up, or fuck off.

He's been out for most of the season and I don't feel like we've missed him a lot
