Hate to tempt fate by jumping the gun and discussing this one - but fuck it, they play before we do so there's no fun waiting until we see if we fuck up against Croatia.

Belgium are scary in the counter, but don't have the same pace that France do (still pacey, mind). I think Belgium's defending has been lucky, and if they beat France will have to be lucky once more.

So I think you might be right, in that Belgium would be the better of the two to play.

Yep it's the outright pace of France ... plus they've got some big game players who know how to win the big games

Plus I think psychologically we face a lot of Belgiums best players weekly

I think we might fancy ourselves against them

And I don't get your nonsense about your possible semi's with Russia. Russia was really good today, not in football sense that much, but in fair-play and rest of the things that are going on on the pitch. Respect to them.

Anyway. Watching these 2 games against Denmark and Russia, it actually good that we are playing attacking team.

Yep, I was thinking about The big game player factor... can't help thinking about todays game with a prime ibrahimovich in their team. Would have been much closer. France are the the biggest challenge left.

It should be a good game. Still a big fan of Corluka and Modric (and Kranjcar). I’ve admired Croatia for many years, and if we were already out I’d be cheering you on.

We’re actually well set up as a counter-attacking team. We haven’t played that way so far, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see a change of tactics. Sterling, Walker, Rose...if we want to soak up pressure and hit you on the break we’re more than capable.

I certainly fancy Kane against Lovren. He’s due a proper goal.

Perhaps Dier to play in midfield to try and break up Modric/Rakitic more effectively?

Not sure we need Dele and Lingard for this one. I'd say we don't need Sterling given he's been worse than those two at finishing, but I actually think he'll have a lot of joy with his movement/pace against Croatia's defence.

Southgate is no fool, it was the right call to stick with the same team as against Colombia because we were facing another parked bus in the form of Sweden. Croatia sure won't play like that.

I’d be tempted to play a 2431 formation, with Rose and Walker as wing-backs and Dier as a midfield option to drop back into a temporary back 3. The problem with that is that it means dropping Trippier, who has been great.

Sterling definitely shakes things up, but he’s got no end product and has become increasingly selfish. Might as well play him though as we don’t have a lot of options.

You also have Lovren and some very slow players.

Also, after his goal it was clear to me that Dele has his previous swagger back and he loves to outshine Luka Modric whether it be in his first ever game in a pre-srsson friendly or a CL match at a packed Wembley.

:)

It should be a great couple of semi-finald as well as final I believe, each side left would be a worthy winner.
