Off the top of my head I'd say Kroos was the last player they signed that went straight into their first team and has remained there. They've signed Odriozola for £30,000,000 in the summer - whether or not he goes straight into the first time we'll see. I imagine him and Carvajal will battle it out pretty well.
Few other signings over the years have been Ceballos and Morata - but like you say, barely straight in the team and starting all season.

Navas? Think he displaced Lopez pretty damn quicklyOff the top of my head I'd say Kroos was the last player they signed that went straight into their first team and has remained there.
Navas had to duke it out with Casillas for a bit but I'd say he could count as wellOff the top of my head I'd say Kroos was the last player they signed that went straight into their first team and has remained there.
They've brought in Vinícius from Brazil for €43 million this summer (although the agreement was made last year, they had to wait till he turned 18).I could be wrong here, and absolutely can't be bothered to check it out, but I reasonably confident that Real Madrid have signed absolutely no-one for their first team in 3 yrs now, maybe even longer than that. They have bought a few very young players and paid a lot for them too. Only young player that has stacked a claim to the first team has been Asensio.
*Even if I've missed a player that they have bought that has gone straight into their first team, there can't be many.

Looks a young, less refined Modric.I quite like the look of Lobotka (Youtube, innit) he seems to move the ball quickly through the lines and has a nice low center of gravity. I'm assuming it would be one of Grealish, Brozovic or him? If any of them, obviously.

Just EFL clubs, no?Looks like the deadline on Thursday is just a "soft deadline" according to ESPN.
"Worth pointing out that Thursday is only a "soft" transfer deadline day for EFL clubs. Players can still be signed on loan with a permanent agreement (activated on January 1) right up to August 31. So there will be permanent transfers still being done right through August."
So we could still loan players in then if that is true and make the transfers permanent in January

This just isn't true though. Apart from Sanchez and to a lesser extent Alderweireld, those players you mentioned are all punts who have been turned into good signings by our greatest manager in decades. The reality is our transfer strategy has been flawed for years and years. Our success on the field in recent seasons is for the most part in spite of our work in the market, not because of it, and anyone who has convinced themselves otherwise is just deluded.Sanchez

I understand the Levy haters. Why he’s frustrating. He doesn’t talk like others either. Never explains himself, never defends himself. Never brags about the likes of transfers such as Dele or Bale either.
But Levy doesn’t get credit for them signings above.
Pochettino does.
Those players cost us what £50-60m. I’d say that is magic.
And they weren’t ‘years’ ago.
Good shout. The PL being part or not part of the EFL seems to be in constant debate but logically since both are part of the same promotion/relegation system the same rules should apply you'd think
