Match Unstoppable force (Watford) vs Immovable object (Spurs) Sunday 2 September

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Good thing it’s happened early in the season and now the manager can learn if it’s not broke don’t fix it, should have started with the same as last week and formation. We changed from a back four to a back 3, the back 3 is not working you saw it at Fulham and Leicester last season you leave the defence open. We were more solid last week and should have gone on to be stronger playing in the same back 4 not changing roles and Vorm is totally shit. He had nothing to do the first half and looked good, soon as we counted on him his positioning was wrong and he was just useless

Too many players either very sloppy or playing without any urgency, might be a good wake-up call for the 15th of September.. As much as it hurts now getting bullied at Vicarage Road of all places. :harryhmm:

Weekend ruined.

But it seems to happen to us at the wrong times.
So there is a right time to lose a game?
Nah. Of course not.
If anything, the best time to lose a game is early in the season, when the table is still taking shape and teams are all over the place on it.
All losses feel like they come at the wrong time.
Once again, I urge you to examine the narratives you give yourself. Doing that is key to overcoming what ails this club.

Absolutely, but not gonna happen. No one is battering Liverpool this year.
Beat them yes , batter them, not happening.

Lol, based on what? They haven’t played anyone good. They started out against the worst team in the league and have since played Brighton, Palace and Leicester. I don’t think it’s a guarantee we crush them, but it’s hardly far-fetched.

On topic, disappointing today. I thought we’re we good for the first half, and into the second. Then Watford came alive and really played well. You can’t win them all I guess.

It's because we didn't make any signings
there you go
:dembelewtf:
(people have been saying this for ages)

Seriously though wouldn't you prefer it if we had a quality striker we could bring on rather than ughh Llorente?
My heart sinks whenever he's warming up. You know it's desperation time. As far as I can remember, he has never scored coming on to chase the game. It just doesn't work.

Really don't understand playing 3 at the back against these teams that we know are going to sit back. We need to take the match to them. There are times I feel like we resemble a latter-day Wenger squad, expecting to win matches on possession stats alone.

Another match against mediocre opposition and another lackluster performance. Good we got a tough CL group - Poch's Spurs absolutely have a habit of playing to the level of their competition.

I figured a player that wants an improved salary would play like a player that deserves one.

But I'm not an expert
I seem to recall (and I could be wrong, this is just from memory) that after Eriksen signed his last deal and got back into form, Poch was directly asked about it and suggested getting it sorted had helped his mentality, etc.

People respond differently to things, I suppose. A player may be genuinely distracted by uncertainty while contract negotiations are ongoing (and others may be completely unfazed).

It's clear that we really need it sorted sooner rather than later.

It's easy to say in hindsight and all that. But with half an hour to go I would have started to bring on Dier, then Winks, and finally Sissoko, to freshen up and crowd out that midfield. Leaving Dembele exposed out there for so long was a big mistake. And again easy to say this now, but Rose should have kept his place in the team.
I don’t really think that’s hindsight. Our goal was a lucky bounce and Moose looked dead on his feet. We needed to freshen things up around the 60 minute mark.

Then don't fcuking play him until it is or do more to buy players you think can take his place.

Fair play to Watford but we just let the doubters resurface and extinguished the belief of what looked like a team ready to challenge.

It was an horrific capitulation.
