Match Unstoppable force (Watford) vs Immovable object (Spurs) Sunday 2 September

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So there is a right time to lose a game?
Nah. Of course not.
If anything, the best time to lose a game is early in the season, when the table is still taking shape and teams are all over the place on it.
All losses feel like they come at the wrong time.
Once again, I urge you to examine the narratives you give yourself. Doing that is key to overcoming what ails this club.
Look back on past seasons and we've dropped tons of points against very much inferior opposition, particularly at the beginning of the season.

My point isn't that there's a "good time" - it's that we drop more points to mid table and lower clubs than our rivals, hence our inability to win the league in recent seasons. And losing points to Watford now seems like poor timing given the loss of momentum ahead of Liverpool and an always tricky fixture away to Brighton.

The reality is its these games that prevent our silverware quests much more than glamour times against goons, United, chavs, dippers. The Watfords of the world are what trip us up.

Then don't fcuking play him until it is or do more to buy players you think can take his place.

Fair play to Watford but we just let the doubters resurface and extinguished the belief of what looked like a team ready to challenge.

It was an horrific capitulation.
Alas, no Eriksen no party.

He's the one player who's guaranteed to start regardless of form (which I don't think is a good situation to be in, and is something we should have/should in future address in the transfer window).

There’s too many fickles who want us to do bad to prove a point.
If you are Spurs you should feel happy at the moment, but nothings ever enough.
As bad as the ones they mock from other clubs.
We missed chances and should have put the game away. Maybe our players are a bit jaded form a long summer.
Funny how Sissoko, Lamela, Lucas and Winks looked much more sharp and full of beans.
We had 9 outfield players today who have been played a lot of football.
What’s that the 2nd away loss in the league (since City) in 13 away games
WBA and now Watford
Not to mention 3 away games in first 4 ( this should have been Home game)

Suck it up. It happens. Sometimes you lose
We are no different.
Any team who goes there pre Christmas will get bullied. They will tire themselves out by January
If we’d have had a fit Sissoko , Wanyama and maybe Lamela, it would have been a different outcome. Even a match fit Winks.
Knew from the off it would be hard game and we were light in midfield, that Dembele would have his work cut out.
Yet most think like Gooners, despite not being as successful, and think we should be rolling those teams over.
Like it’s been really easy there previously.

Agree. But on sissoko no. Him and llorente are 'completely useless

It's because we didn't make any signings
there you go
:dembelewtf:
(people have been saying this for ages)

Seriously though wouldn't you prefer it if we had a quality striker we could bring on rather than ughh Llorente?
When we bring him on, it's almost like waving a big white flag to the opposition. We haven't got a clue how to fix this one, so we're going to send Llorente on.

Didn’t have time to make any kind of impact. Davies today was far worse than Rose was on Monday imo.

Rose vs United was not very good IMO. A succession of scary moments down his side throughout. My heart was in my mouth whenever he was the last man. Meanwhile, he got got left on his arse the moment he came on today.

By all means have the "Is Ben good enough?" debate, but current Rose isn't the answer.

Since injury, be it for Spurs or England, he's been poor with an occasional flash of mediocrity.

Pretty unacceptable that we won every 50/50 and duel in the first half then when the pressure came in the second half for 15-20 mins we lost every single one getting outmuscled and didn't want any of it. Pathetic really.

Nobody was good today including and maybe most significantly the manager.

Indecisive, poor decision making and slow to react just about sums up everyone's performance.

I really thought we had ironed that out of our system, irrespective of our opponent on the day.

Clearly not.

Just shows the lack of transfer activity will come back to haunt us. The squad is not deep enough and there are no alternatives to cater for injury, suspension, OR loss of form. I've been saying this from before the World Cup

Dele, Kane, Eriksen, and to a lesser extent Dembele, despite their abject performances today, are undroppable, and there are no alternatives.

Llorente(!), Winks, Sissoko (give me a break), Dier, Wanyama (perpetually injured), Llamela (!). You then get down to Amos and Tripp who wont be risked in the PL. There isn't a game changer in that list.

To challenge, these are the games we need to win.

Oh well, move on. The break will get it out of our system. LiverpooI I think!

The signs have been there in previous matches. Newcastle hit the post and bar. Utd were the better team in the first half.Fulham had their chances...This result should not come as a total shock to anyone.

That's the worst bit. It comes as a shock to no one.

Pumped for the game already, but can't help but feel this ends in a draw. Things have been going TOO well

Sure, I wasn't right about the draw, but it was obvious even before the game that this was a banana skin and "Spursy" would arise.

Short memories. Davies was great last season.

And the season before that... Barely even rotated either.

He's an incredible asset yet most of his detractors would have probably sold him off in favour of a punt on some fancy foreign piece given half the chance (or at least terminally benched him for the shell of a player formerly recognized as Danny Rose).
