Ok this is the last time I am going to reply to this "person" but I wasnt going to let some of these things said lie.

At no time have I made assumptions about how anyone supports the club.

Yes you have. Don't make out you are some innocent bystander who was only voicing an opinion. You said that people who don't go to the matches do not make as much contribution as those that don't. That is an assumption and frankly wrong.

You are the only one making assumptions, and they are all based on the fact that you are a narrow minded and dull witted individual, who doesn't understand the difference between English words, or have the apparent ability to grasp concepts. In your ignorance you then proceed to launch foul mouthed tirades at me, for daring to voice opinions that you erroneously believe to be at odds with your lifestyle - or, it appears, seem to question the depth of your love for the club.

Says the kettle to the pot. Don't try and wrap your "tirades" up in flowery language and politely worded insults. I would be interested to see on what basis you consider me to be dull witted? I merely have a different side of the argument to you.

Unlike you, you rambling halfwit, I can get out and about - and I have attended several sporting events across the continent of North America to get a feel for the sports that I little understand and have no affiliation for.

That is such a low blow you must have been in the gutter when you wrote it. Frankly whatever slim credibility you have left has vanished with that statement. To goad me because I am too ill to go to matches is frankly disgusting. And it is only because of the language I have used towards you in the past that I have not reported you to the mods. I find your comment deeply offensive.

Ask any American what the atrmosphere is like at some of their major sporting contests, and you might begin to understand how it differs, and therefore evokes the comments that I made. Particularly at baseball games - I attended one of the world series games at the Yankee stadium in the Bronx and it was like attending a wake. Basketball was different, mental crowd excitement, despite the advert breaks that TV companies think Americans cant live without.

Again you are making assumptions based on a few visits to isolated matches. Have you spent a season watching the Red Socks? Imagine if you will, a wise wordly traveller such as your self on a visit to England. You are on business in Stoke and decide to go and watch a match. Or you are in London and go to White Hart Lane and witness 30'000 fans booing their own team at half time because they are not wining.
Would hardly make for a ringing endorsement of the beautiful game would it.

My argument has no holes in it at all because it wasn't an argument per se, it was my opinion - and had you had any semblance of a brain, you would have picked up on the fact that I made a distinction between a supporter and a fan. The funny part was that you actually think that you proved your support for Spurs because you pay for sky sport.

So this isn't an argument then? If it was simply an opinion you wouldn't feel the need to keep barracking me for critiquing it would you. If you were such an "ok bloke" you wouldn't need to defend your opinion because it was just that, an opinion. The fact that you decided to defend your opinion turned this into a debate. So by making the distinction between a fan and a supporter you are telling people that their love for the club is less valid than the other. You are making assumptions of what people are. I for one consider myself a supporter. When I was in better health I would visit the lane regularly, at least once a season, so yes I know the pains of walking back down Seven Sisters after a boring game. I am in fact lucky enough never to have seen Spurs lose at the Lane. And I was there for Paul Robinson's wonderful goal. I was there when Ginola came back with Villa for the first time. I have also been there for some damn boring games, nil nil draws with poor teams, did I boo at half time? did I fuck. It's only in recent years that I have not been able to go. I'm a shareholder, I buy kits, I buy merchandise, and yes I make a contribution to Spurs biggest income stream. Sky Sports Television. Does that make me better than someone who watches Spurs on an internet stream? No of course not.

Now if you want to keep making this into some personal argument and make disgusting comments about me not being able to get out and about then carry on. But I have had it with you.

And you accuse me of being stupid
Go to a College Football game and come back to me, or College Basketball for that matter.

I have been told this many times, when I have had the same discussion with other Americans, apparently the atmosphere is really good, its kind of a reminder what sport was like, when it was still really a sport and money and TV companies didn't get in and fuck it up.

I'd love to do exactly that, but like most people when I go to the US I'm either on business or holiday - and being married with a 5 year old, taking a trip to a college football game to savour the atmosphere, isn't high on the agenda - sad to say.

This 'who is a better/more passionate supporter' argument is bloody tiresome.
Think there's only one way to settle this TommyHarmer TommyHarmer and Carlito Brigante Carlito Brigante http://roadtoglory.underarmour.com/details
what is more tiresome is dickheads who clearly haven't read what is being said, and making announcements like yours, which whilst absolutely correct, have nothing to do with the discussion.

Brigante has his own agenda and it has nothing to do with anything I have had to say.

Well thats the best atmosphere in American sports and you can't make a generalization without taking that into account

It must be a real shame to have had your national sports hijacked and ruined in the way that they have been. Which is what is slowly happening to football in the UK, the atmosphere is slowly being eroded in the stadiums and we will end up with a 2 tier game.

I did mention earlier that I wouldn't mind there being a breakaway euro league, leaving committed English clubs and supporters to get on with the business and taking the sport back to the people, so that we can have that college level of support and commitment.

Let the johnny come lately crowd go and watch Chelski and Manchester of Arabia city hack it out in the europop league, with all the obscene player transfers and salaries, and the rest of society can get their sport back.
