Transfers January 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Good find. I went hunting and only found that his father hates Chelsea because Christian had 2 trials with them and they wanted a third, even after calling him weak and not that good.

The quotes are from November 2011 but your dream team is your dream team and he's not wrong either. But, Chris baby, we can be that team! Stay and we'll build and buy around you. 3 more year Christian and I promise you you will be holding the Champions League trophy aloft.
Are we N17 or E17?
:adegrin2:

Regarding Eriksen, i would think his cryptic remarks translate as 'i'm keeping my options open to see who comes in for me and if it isn't my preferred club i will stay at Tottenham'.

My gut instinct is ominous. I don't even want to type it out.
We have always been on borrowed time with Eriksen, unfortunately. My only annoyance is if we have allowed/allow his transfer value to slip away.

He was always destined for Barca, he’s talked about playing for them since his Ajax days. It’ll happen sooner or later so we should already be well into contingency planning.

Eriksen has been with us 6 years. If he wants to move on then I for one say thank you and good luck

Top player, good guy, deserves the best

Amazing thing is how cheaply Levy has got away with paying Eriksen. Currently on 70k a week apparently but for a long while he was on 40k a week. Cheap as chips

If you look at our situation, as in the precarious nature of Eriksen's contract, you would think we would do our utmost to secure signings.

We are building for the future but we need to be careful of not having a good enough side to compete in the short term.

Eriksen's loss without a good replacement would be reckless. Leave it to the summer and we compete with all other clubs and I am not convinced that works.

Our best bet is to flog him in the summer and try and get close to £100 million (simply from compeition for his signature).

Unfortunately, if it's Barca alone he is after, they might look to run his contract down and get him in 2020 on a free (rather like Rabiot). Although I'd be surprised if they took that risk.

Anyway, we should enjoy him while he's here, and if he does end up resigning, it will be magic.

That’s exactly my fear. And the truth is that, whilst it’s nice to think he would help the club out, Eriksen is a dispassionate type. He cost peanuts and has served the club well. He’ll do whatever makes financial/career sense as his next step.

Our only Hail Mary is that we can find a good looking offer and other options aren’t ready for him atm.

And the selling clubs will know we're desperate.

There is the hope Eriksen stays. Nobody should rule that out but if we need a playmaker then waiting carries a huge risk.

We are in such a great position as a club yet tester on a tightrope.

Manager, Alderweireld (not such an issue but hardly a good situation) and now Eriksen.

It is the power of the top players right here because at this stage Eriksen only loses out if he suffers a serious injury.
