Is English Football inherently Racist?

After the recent West Ham game and all that went on, it struck me that the racism problem is much further widespread, and that anti-Semitism and outright racism are maybe two very different things... one being based on religion, the other, colour...

There have been reports this weekend of more racism at Sunderland (against WBA/Lukaku) not to mention all the crap at Chelsea v Man Utd a few weeks back, as well as the 13-year-old at Millwall, and there have been other domestic incidents too.

Whilst we were all rightly 'up in arms' at the disgusting scenes in Serbia at the England U-21's... it still beggars the question, putting aside the anti-Semitic issue for one minute, is England also STILL cursed with a much deeper-seated inherent racism, that no amounts of 'Kick-it-Out' Campaigns or SBL media-savvy sound-bites will ever eradicate...?


Just thought I'd put it out there, as it were... a simple 'yes' or 'no' will suffice..

Society is.

You could take 1000 fans of any sport and find a racist.

While the punishments remain minimal, the authorities subconsciously give these people permission to continue.
 
As Burko says, society is. It's getting better all the time, and we live in a lot more tolerant era, but it will never ever be fully eradicated. But as long as good people stand up and tell these fuckers that they are wrong, then the world is a better place
 
English Football is inherently racist because English Society is inherently racist because all white western christian societies are inherently racist.
It just has more of a voice because fans in football are vocal & rowdy so it's bound that there will be racism involved with those chants.
Also anti-semitism isnt based on religion, its based on race. When we're killed off or attacked, it doesnt matter if we believe in the torah or the talmud, it just matters which family we've come from.
And about whether we can get rid of it in football, yes, but its not gona happen from any liberal groups like Kick It Out or the FA dishing out fines and bans.
 
The world is racist , it comes from the need to identify groups in society and the easiest way to do this is by appaearance , skin or haircolour being the most prominent ones.Its in humans nature to attribute certain characteristics to easily recognisable groups based on previous experiences , education and general beliefs in a society. Thats why people will talk about Youth , Chavs , blacks , Whities etc ... as if they are one group with one or more predominant characteristics.
 
While there you get a lot of idiots heading to football nowadays, there are much less than there used to be. As long as the likes of The FA and UEFA let the racists get away with accusing people of racism without any claims or making racial remarks themselves (Porto fans, Lazio fans, Chelsea etc), then there will always be an issue of racism within football. Dock teams points - that will enable clubs to act on their racist/anti-semitist minority.

It is still a problem within football (it always will be until there is no racism at all), but let's not forget how far English football has come on and that the likes of Italian football are still stuck in the dark ages. Prime example - Lazio. I have a higher opinion of the chewing gum stuck underneath my foot.

Jewish communities, Israeli society and orthodox Jews are racist as well then - no?

They all discourage marriage outside the faith, oppose integration etc etc?

Don't get me wrong, this isn't an anti semitic post, simply an observation on the Jewish race and its peoples, and their religious beliefs.

Its not anti semitic, because you have my wholehearted sympathy and empathy. If I was part of a religion and a race that had been so badly oppressed and victimised, I would be keeping the wagons in a fucking tight circle.

never going to happen.

watch children play. They isolate the children who are different, they victimise the weak and they develope heirarchy's, without ever being shown how to do it.

Humans are pack animals, and they gravitate into groups of similar characteristics, and then form defensive behaviour patterns and aggress against differing factions.

Racism isn't a disease, or an affliction - its a way humans behave by design. As soon as you start forming groups or collectives, you become different and you start to collect enemies who are either afraid of you, or want to break the group up or destroy it.

Suppressing racism is probably never going to happen as the worlds population continues to expand in the exponential manner that it is doing. Far from ending, it will accellerate and worsen, as groups form to dominate resources and fight for survival on a planet of dwindling resources, space and food.

Happily, no matter which race, tribe, faction, nation or sex becomes dominant - they will ultimately still find time to ridicule gooners.
