Is Gazziniga good enough to replace Lloris as 1st choice keeper?

It was a very soft goal to lose, but then again we were allowing chav players to stand free at the edge of the box from every corner so you would expect something to happen from that.
 
I would just like to take this time, when we're all feeling a bit deflated after the result yesterday, to admire that ball he played to Moura. As an individual moment within the game, it was a thing of beauty.
 
His worst game - the first Sissoko 'dummied' him but he should still have saved it. Sissoko was back to "Mr.50%" again.

Gazza should have waited for ball to be kicked, but like a lot of poor goalies he gambled needlessly and looked a complete idiot in the penalties!

You're genuinely having a go at him because of Jorginho's penalty? Oh do fuck off mate

Ever played in goal? You do realise that goalkeepers need to commit before the ball is kicked to increase their chances of getting to the thing before it gets past them right? Hence why we see far more penalties scored than saved, it doesn't make Paulo a poor keeper when I'm pretty sure every keeper that's ever played has let in more than he has saved when it comes to penalties.

Having a moan about him for the penalty, seriously go take up watching Bowls or something pal. Jorginho gave him the eyes and nudged it the other way, it was a cool, calm penalty and to blame e goalkeeper I think is a little cheap

I like Gazza as a keeper but that was a very poor goal to concede.
His distribution is top notch and his shot stopping is usually excellent.

If Lloris had let that in this place would go into melt down
 
Somebody should tell Gazzanigga to WAIT for the ball to be kicked at penalties then dive as he would for any shot - he's good at shot-stopping.

But on penalties, Gazzanigga is the WORST ON THE PLANET!

They both have good attributes... shot stopping, distribution and kicking are things all modern keepers need... but you could argue that Lloris' distribution isn't as good as it might be for a top TOP keeper.

...we sould try playing them both one time, at the expense of a CM maybe??

Is the totally wrong thing to do. A good penalty taker will have the ball past a keeper who waits to see whats happening before they know it.

Case in point, Kane's penalty in the semi final first leg.

Couldn't agree more.

Have a look at this Peter Shilton (arguably England's best kepper since Banks) waits for the kick to be taken and dives the right way every time.
How many does he save ?

 
Fun video, but also quite interesting to keep a lookout for how good Gazzaniga is with his feet when receiving the ball.

IIRC, he has warmed up with the outfield players before to help with his distribution - and it's something he's definitely better at than Lloris.
