How many times we play Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona in that time?
He calls the Carling cup paltry while lauding an era that won it, and one single FA Cup 8 years previously, played in Europe for five minutes, nearly went bankrupt and finished 15th three times, 14th, 11th, 10th and highest position was 8th. Nearly relegated three times but it was blinding because we had one good player.

REMEMBER WHEN WE BOUGHT KLINSMANN?!?

Yes, John...but he played with Justin Edinburgh, Stuart Nethercott, Jason Cundy and David Kerslake.

It's fair to say there are a lot of factors that go into "success" at a football club.

But I don't think it's fair to say that a completely barren trophy cabinet doesn't begin to dominate that calculation after awhile.

Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham are, by a country mile at this point, the greatest English team never to win major honors. That's a shitty thing to be, even though we've had to be very very good to earn that moniker.

(I guess Klopp's Liverpool are coming up from behind for that title, but if they can't hold off City I don't think they're there quite yet)

I think they should have won a domestic cup by now.
But if you think I’m going to say it was better in the ten years prior to ENIC because we bought Klinsmann then you should be in an asylum

OK, you're a footballer with no ties to both and both Liverpool & Tottenham come in for you, same money, same amount of likeability for the managers etc etc, 9 times out of 10 who would a footballer with no bias choose if on paper everything matches up financially, all the other stuff that goes along with it?

As for the wage structure, we are building a poxy stadium I honestly cannot believe how many fully grown adults don't get the concept of its cost. We've never spent big on wages because we haven't got the revenue streams other teams we compete with have. It goes hand in hand unless you want the club to act recklessly. Shirt sales, commercial exposure, all the other stuff that goes along with it surpasses us AND we have to find £1bn from somewhere to pay for a new ground.

I really do think a lot of our fans expect far too much too soon from our football club. Four years ago when Pochettino took over anyone that wouldn't have snapped your hand off at 3 Chanpions Leagues in a row, a fourth on the horizon, a cup final, 4 semi finals against Sheffield United, Chelsea twice and Manchester United would have been absolutely insane not to take that all the way to the bank.

We can't pay the wages teams richer than us can, even without the stadium to pay off so why do people expect it to be any different in the midst of committing the largest debt not only in our history but world football at present? Madness

Nothing to do with this then?

Are we pretending that Liverpool aren’t one of the most famous and biggest clubs in the world now, and that all their players live in Toxteth but put up with it because of the wages.

Harry Kane is on the same as Salah by the way
Did you read the headline of the article John quoted? Do you even read the posts you respond to

Entitled newgen brats.

Certainly not, though that's a bit of fun with selected endpoints.

We weren't as strong of a league side or even as good of a team generally from, say 87-91 than the past four or five seasons, but you would be tempted to trade this era for that one, right?

Gazza et al, lifting the cup and not having to play any home games in Milton Keynes.

No I wouldn’t swap this era for one FA Cup win and financial meltdown.
This era has just started.....I’m wet at the thought of this club after five years in the new gaff.

If people want Mitchell Thomas and Paul Walsh back, then great

Were gonna need a bigger boat..........

when i asked about rabiot told no chance.

Would love the info to b b'shit.

"The reason Rabiot is not a defo, or starter. Can’t find the right words to express. His mum and advisors are ridiculously difficult to deal with. From what I hear Rabiot himself is not the issue, but his outside advisors influence on him. We have spoken to him personally, along with his lot. Hence why I said i can’t see it. Timo is too expensive for us. But sadly, words we are fed up of hearing; we did try

Let’s see the next few days. I hope I have it things into perspective."
