How are we going to play against a Bradford in the final if we cant get past the semis, also as for luck of the drawer away from our inability to beat any of the top 4 in the latter stages we are more than capable to going out to shite....
2019 out to Palace
2016 out to Palace
2015 out to Leicester
2013 out to Leeds
2011 out to Fulham
2012 out to Portsmouth
2006 out to Leicester
2005 out to Newcastle
2003 out to Southampton
Blimey, Leicester and Palace certainly have the measure of us in the Cups!
I'd say, with the exception of Leeds and Portsmouth, which was just 'orrible and freakish, the clubs who have knocked us out are of a similar ilk, and size... mid-table PL clubs, who, at the time of us playing them, weren't in danger of relegation, were certainly not winning the League (yet, in Leicester's case) and who could go all out to beat 'mighty' Spurs... it's a free hit for most of them. The shame is, we're always more than willing to oblige!
We're perfectly capable of beating these teams, but I think we've taken these types of games with a pinch of salt too many times...
As someone said on the radio the other day, the real reason the Cups are secondary in terms of a season, is that to win one, you 'only' have to win 6 or 7 games max. ...and all for 'a day out' at the end of it.
To succeed (ie: Top 4 or higher) in the League, you have to be 'on it' for at least 30+ games, if not all 38... where one defeat can have
massive implications.
i'd almost rather play a 'bigger team' early on in the Cups, 'cos you'd assume, they'd be taking the same 'carefree' attitude to the Cups as we have been!!
