At this point, while Marcus is looking a little better in Holland, he's still nowhere near ready to be part of the squad, and I am not sure he ever will be. Another year in Europe, on loan in a league that plays defence, would be what he needs, I think.

Not quite, there is a :
- Maximum of 17 overseas players who can be registered in the squad (currently we have 19)
- We need to have a minimum of 4 Club trained players to have a full squad of 25 players
- We need to have a minimum of 8 home grown players (including club trained players) to have a full squad of 25 players
Problem is we have too many overseas players of insufficient quality to play regularly (and who to include is debateable but I would include the semi permanent crocs such as Wanyama and Lamela as well as the out of favour Janssen and N'Koudou and maybe Moura as well as those who I'd call average such as Aurier and Sissoko) and too few club/homegrown players to make a strong squad from these and the remaining overseas players.
So there's a need to sell a number of overseas players and replace some with better quality overseas players as well as acquire some quality home grown players to increase the squad size.
And that is without addressing if Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen (all with one year left on their contracts) do not wish to resign other contracts with Spurs.
Marcus is under 21 so doesn't need to be named in the squad - just depends whether Poch thinks he would make it at Spurs and wants to bring him through
Thanks. As I understand it, the wrinkle is that Davies and Dier are not eligible for HG criteria in Europe, though would fit in the Premier League, which makes our math trickier. But I could be wrong. In any event, assuming we're ejecting Trippier and possibly Davies, HG solutions would need to be found to keep the math viable.
Dier is non-HG, full stop.
I think Ben is only HG domestically.

Homegrown is loosely 15-18 trained in this country (for CL it is English association and Swansea is Welsh association) - Dier was in Portugal
I know Dier was in Portugal, so he never counted, but I couldn't remember how Davies worked. [insert joke about his recent performances here]

The way I see it. . . The issue with Marcus isn’t him not being good enough for the squad, it’s that clearly something happened between him and Poch.
We all know Poch doesn’t forgive easily so even though I’m sad about it, and I think Marcus will be a great player some day, I don’t see him coming back and playing for us.
Correct but whilst being 'governed' by Welsh FA the disciplinary processes regarding Swansea (and Cardiff) have been offloaded to The FA (who look after the English team as well). So for all meaningful reasons Swansea and Cardiff are regulated by The FA - but not for UEFA
