Match Tottenham Hotspur v Ajax, Champions League Semi-Final, Tue 30th April

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lloris
Alderweireld - Sanchez - Vertonghen
Trippier - Eriksen - Wanyama - Dele - Rose
Lucas - Llorente
Would be amazed if it isn't a team similar to that considering the bare bones we are down to.

I'd honestly be tempted to bring Foyth in though and put Vertonghen at LWB. Capable of getting up and down smartly and has a wicked delivery.

Cleansheet is crucial. Think we may sneak a 1-0 win. And I would be more than happy with taking that back to Amsterdam with likely Sissoko, Winks and Son all back for the second leg.

COYS.

They'r young and fit. Available and Rested.

We are not as young, loads out injured, some haven't played more than one or two games lately and all are knackered.

We will play much better than Saturday though. I just hope we get our tactics right and take our chances.

Don't like our chances in this. Ajax will have seen our recent performances and injury list and will smell blood. I expect them to come out the corner swinging.

Hopefully Wanyama and Winks will be fit for this one. We will need some dominance in midfield to control the pace of the game.

Up top our lineup picks itself, Moura, Eriksen, Dele and Llorente. Dele looked unfit and off the pace against West Ham. Slow to pick out passes and indecisive. The threat of Moura's pace should be enough to prevent Ajax playing too high up the field.

If we are to get anything from this game, Dele and Eriksen need to be at their best. Llorente and Moura will need service and we won't have the luxury of 32 attempts on goal that we needed against Brighton.

Ajax are where Spurs were 2 years ago. A young team punching above their weight. Hopefully the inexperience and nerves will get the better of them and our disciplined and more experienced squad will come through. We have the benefit of not under estimating Ajax as Madrid and Juve did.

All this "interventionism" by the Dutch federation is not correct. It will have effects on CL and Eredivisie

The top 4 leaques in Europe getting 4 free spots in the CL has it's effects on the CL as well, Ajax had to go through the qualifiers to even get into the CL.

The vast sums of money the Spurs get for free from TV rights has it's effects on the Eredivisie and Ajax as well. Sanchez, Verthongen, Eriksen, Alderweireld. It's basically Ajax 1 vs. Ajax 2 next tuesday

It's all a bit boohoohooo......

We had first leg matches at home in the 2 previous knock outs and same in the semis.
Ajax had the first leg matches at home but now away in the semis, hope disturbs their rhythm.

That's because they couldn't finish ahead of an average PSV side last season. And now after 32 matches they've got the same amount of points as PSV.

No, it's because UEFA has been messing with the CL format since the '90 and thanks to the Bayerns and Reals of this world who've putting pressure on UEFA to favor the big leaques to secure their dominant position.

End result, the CL is way too predictable this past decade (apart from this year) and big clubs getting bigger and bigger.

You think the 2nd best club from the 14th best league in Europe should get 2 places, automatically in the group stage? So that's 28 teams if you do that for the top 14, and then 4 from everyone else even if you drop all the 3rd and 4th placed sides.

Under no format ever would Ajax have automatically qualified this season. In this case it's nothing to do with UEFA, it's to do with how shit the Dutch clubs were in Europe for several years before you've done well this season.

Dele needs to be benched. Was poor today and has been for a long while..

My team would be -
Hugo
Trippier Toby Vertonghen Rose
Sanchez Dier
Moura Wanyama Eriksen
Llorente
What are you on about dele is a proven big match player. Our midfield is threadbare as it is and you want to bench him.. Do you even fucking understand football nevermind tottenham. He's virtually first name on the sheet. One poor match does not change that.

Gonna be very very difficult. Strangely I was more confident for the City first leg than this. One thing is for sure is we should not have Rose on the left side of midfield again because him and Davies can't play together. Even if on the team sheet it has him down as a LWB whenever Davies plays its pretty much as a central midfielder and he is shocking there.

Nonetheless, we still can definitely do it if we play at our best. Ajax are a great side but player for player we are probably better. Just need to keep it tight first leg in particular.

You need to tone done the language, it really does show up your lack of intelligence.

I would also suggest that you don't have a clue about football... One bad game?? 🧐

I will be laughing my arse off when ajax goes through and this whole forum blames it on the extra restdays Ajax had. There are about a million things unfair in football and a few days rest should be the last thing to moan about as a PL club

Netherlands should be competing with Portugal and Russia for 6th rank which gives the runner up a group place, but they are a few places behind but have a chance to play their way back in, this is a good reason why the Eredivise is helping them.
