Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What's that? can't hear you?

You made a claim and I repeatedly asked you to clarify using the clear definition of said accusation. You nibbled around the edges but at no point, until now, did you actually affirmatively respond. It's amazing that you would continue with your libelous claim without being able to name a gain or motive for a simple perceived misstatement of a factually correct statement.

What mistake? I am not sure I have made a mistake.

So suck it!!!! So there's your 3 windows and until we sign someone this window that will remain true. And at that point in time I will amend my statement...or it will be no longer relevant so I probably will not address it.

Going around with you is like Spurs playing Bournemouth. You play some pretty stuff against the lesser lights of the league but ultimately we know it will end in a 5 goal thrashing against the mighty Spurs. But keep chipping away and you might sneak a 1-nil at the death after suffering countless humiliations...but that will just be prologue to the next chapter of horrific beatings.
Haven't we signed some young GK this window already?

By far the most intriguing transfer story right now.

Seems to have real legs but make ZERO sense

Why doesn’t it make sense? He had a poor season defensively but Trippier still created the most chances of any RB in the PL. He has excellent delivery from set plays and makes a consistent contribution in the final third. He was one of the best players at the last World Cup. He will never be an elite defender but we know that his gaffes this season were not normal for him. This is a guy who was trained by Sean Dyche for many years.

Good players can have poor seasons, they are only human. Personally I’m in no hurry to get rid of him and I would much rather sell Aurier, but nobody is interested in him for obvious reasons.

I really don’t understand how people can Zaha shit. He’s performed consistently well in a pretty poor Palace team. He’s direct, bundles of pace and offers goals and assists.

Lucas and Son both offer that, but in my opinion I think Zaha would get in our starting 11 if Eriksen left.

Kane, Dele, Zaha and Son up front. That’d be the most dangerous front 4 in the league.

And who would supply all those sexy attackers with good passes? In this lineup we don't have an Eriksen, and we can't change formation to like a 433 because you have all those attackers on. Unless you want to play Dele in an 8 or something, which is clearly not his best position.

Zaha would not get in our starting lineup and even if we got him for like 40 mil, that's too much money for a squad player.

Just drop it already.

If he was German, Spanish or Argentinian and played in the Bundesliga or La Liga, you'd have more support on this. Because it's Zaha who failed at Man Utd and is now at Palace, he doesn't get the 'Football Manager' love like some tricky Spanish winger most have never heard of or a German teenager who's showing some promise.

Reality is that Zaha is extremely effective and dangerous in the premier league. He'd add another pacey, direct and creative runner to our squad. But, I still wouldn't say he's worth more than £50million maximum and that's the problem.

I don’t think anyone has an issue at a sensible
price, it’s the silly money that’s being suggested.

And I don’t think he scores enough to justify the price tag.

I'm not sure it's the goals per se. He scored 10 league goals this season I believe, more than Eriksen and 2 less than Son but playing for Crystal Palace.

I think he's just too expensive full-stop. £50mill would be fair I reckon but anything over and it's too much.

Christ, it’s amazing you have the gall to call anyone pompous/pretentious or whatever it was….

You construct a well articulated and witty retort, but pushing aside all the bollocks…. Your moving the goalposts and hiding behind technicalities (It was an error... No it wasn’t; Jan 18 - Lucas doesn't count... Wait, I meant Summer 19) speaks for itself.

Smug twat.

Got to also take into account how frequently it's acceptable to lose the ball for a team like Palace compared to a team like Tottenham, how many losses and places lost in the table is acceptable and how teams set up against you.

Zaha is a very good player but he plays at a club where losing 3-4 games in a row won't ever make back page news. Taking a step from that to a team like ours comes with different pressures, different set ups against you etc. Most teams set up against Palace in a way where it gives them space to run into, you won't get that at a club like Spurs as frequently there's many variables to consider before deciding if the shoe fits

FFS doofus, get with the fucking program, Trippier is going to be converted to trequartista when Eriksen fucks off to Madrid, Sissoko is the new RB, haven't you heard, he can't play midfield any more since VVD scanned his brain (just in case you don't remember what happened away at Anfield this season, here's a clip of when Sissoko ran at VVD with the game at his mercy):

Saying he could do a job there; is not exactly heralding him as a future god in said position.

Perspective, Mr Blake.

Can't disagree with any of that but I suspect Poch would improve him enough to make the shoe fit as he has has the level of talent to adapt. Probably all a waste of breath as it doesn't look like we'll sign him anyway :)

True I'm sure he would improve somewhat but Zaha does turn 27 this year so can't be seen as a mouldable prospect. For me the risk/reward is too high to lump extortionate money on him. If he flops it's virtually a 75% hit on a transfer fee as you'd Ben looking at moving him on at the age of 28/29. Big wages, large transfer fee, very little sell on opportunity if he fails to live up to expectations, for me it's a no go this time around.

So I've seen enough talent in the kids Sessegnon & Clarke to know I want them to add genuine width on the flanks. Personally I believe they'd both make fantastic wing backs and both would offer substantial talent enough to offer further diversity in tactical play.

This is where my issue is. If they come in purely as attacking options I'm not to sure. Both seem to favour going on the outside which I love my wide players doing but the modern day WF needs both inside and outside options. It's a tough one but if we are able to secure both for a combined £30m-£35m or so it's such smart business, the kind many have praised Dortmund for conducting in recent days.

Jack Clarke & Ryan Sessegnon for their guile, directness and ability to run at players will mean teams simply can't stifle the middle like they do against us. I want both and I think/ hope we invest in these two. I think both ooze class enough to entrust Pochettino with their growth. Get these ones done ASAP please

These are transfers I am 100% behind. 18 or 19, full of potential and mouldable to be whatever we need them to be. Not dirt cheap, but certainly low risk.

It's why £45 million for Grealish or £60 million for Zaha makes absolutely no sense to me. Not young enough to develop massively, no record of big games and big money for potentially little reward. As I said previously if it's 45 million for Grealish and Van De Beek, and both fail, one can be sold off easy enough as they have pedigree, the other can't.

Big money needs to go on established players who have big game experience, the young potentials need a capped fee.

We’re on the CL final and a solidified top 4 side yet we are still talking about Zaha who is our “target” since we were looking on the top 4 from the outside.

Moving up and being a big club isn’t only about the results it’s about the conduct. We need to set our sights higher than Zaha and Grealish.
