Match We can be heroes champions league final 01/06/2019

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Honestly doesn't feel real to me; I could still be drunk or just having the absolute bastard of all hangovers but not sure I can ever remember feeling this way about Spurs.

Part of me is so proud of the team and manager for making it to the final against all the odds, after being written off so many times - the other part of me, I guess the pessimist, is wondering if we're ever going to get a better chance of winning this competition than that.

It feels like the final nail in the coffin for this stage of the 'project' too - looks as though some big changes could be happening to the squad over the summer; let's hope we can kick on and get us some silverware next season.

Agree... in terms of "missed opportunity/best chance we're gonna get for a while" it does have a 'Leicester season' feel about it...
Thing is... I thought WE were gonna be the Leicester in this fairytale...

...but the same as we played the fairytale ruining villains that season, apparently, last night we were only there to try and ruin destiny!!

Fucking shame, the whole occasion.
It was hard to enjoy it fully, regardless of the result, as it just felt 'too big'

Forget last night if you can for a minute or two.

We are a club that seem to perenially fall short. Sure we got to the final and the days between the Ajax match and last night will live long in the memory but there was one more mountain to scale and nearly inevitably we came up short of the summit, as though the giddy heights and lack of oxygen addled our brains somewhat.

We can talk and argue all day long about progress but there is a collective mental block that prevents us taking the final step. Even the law of large numbers evades us.

Pochettino has not and may never find the solution to that. I think if he stays and gets proper transfer backing he will have a season to show he is able.

As for Klopp and his big, shiny white teeth. Pressure lifted. Much more money spent of course but fans of the big 6 clubs just see one metric, rightly or wrongly.

No I just went back two games to find more examples
If you don't see it, then I don't think I can help you to, I'm not a stats freak.
All we will achieve by selling him is making someone else's team much stronger, at the expense of ours
I agree to an extent about dropping players, but I suspect that Poch likes to see his players play their way out of a slump, rather than cool their heels on the bench.

Fuck me, where have I said sell him?? Jesus Christ man.. I’ve said he was awful last season and he was ( all bar the odd game)

Just to make it clearer and simplified. I SAID HE DESERVES ANOTHER SEASON TO PROVE HIMSELF AS HE IS BETTER THAN HE SHOWED LAST SEASON.. I never said he is shit, I never said sell him,.

His performance last night, summed up his season for me.. he wasn’t the only one, he wasn’t our worst player he just seems to have had a bad season. Every player does and that’s why we should give him next season to return to the form we know he can.
I’m lost as to what people read sometimes.

To be perfectly honest
My lucky spurs socks were a total let down
And I got blisters from walking to 7 sisters tube in them
It's probably all my fault
I wish I'd have warned you. I knew they wouldn't work (and would probably have the opposite effect, but I didn't want to appear negative). I stopped wearing mine some time ago. Don't blame yourself mate. They just don't work, do they?

What's more concerning is that my lucky Spurs pin, that's stopped me from dying in horrendous car crashes for many years, has either found its upper limit or has stopped functioning completely, for some reason.

I won't even mention the other lucky things. The pissed bloke next to me was right at half time, when he told me that superstition is a load of bollocks. That was just after I'd predicted a 3-1 Spurs win.

Must be all those magpies I failed to salute last week.

On the way back from Malaga, fell asleep on a bench. Apt really as it matched that empty feeling after last night.

We should have won last night. And the more I think about it the more inexplicable it was to keep on Kane for the entire match. He offered absolutely nothing in the first half and was second to everything. Dont think he got above jogging once, so he wasnt even effective closing players down. I don't blame him, when match fit he is the best cf in world football. Even this season he has scored 24 goals and been either unfit or injured. That's the mark of his quality.

But, as other posters have pointed out, vvd vs an unfit kane must have been his dream. And the underlying issue is that kane standing around the box makes it hard for son and alli to have their own space. When moura was finally brought on, albeit for the wrong player, we looked a lot more lively. But it really hurts that kane wasnt subbed at the same time as klopp took off Firmino. He acted and Pochettino didnt. Then he brought on dier for sissoko. And no surprise that dier made a mistake that caused the Origi goal.

Hard to be disappointed given how much weve achieved against the odds this season. Make a couple of great signings in the next fortnight and we can be optimistic going into next season. I really hope Levy backs Pochettino immediately otherwise it's going to be a long summer.

Sadly Poch doesn't have the balls to drop him or Eriksen

This isn't true at all.

Every one of the squad has been dropped before except Kane.

Poch refuses to drop Kane and it is to our detriment.

One of our own, yeah, but let's stop pretending Harry is the same player he was 18 months ago. Whether through injury or Poch's direction, his game has changed and he is very, very far from the gamechanger he used to be. He really doesn't need to start every game now and especially when he's barely fit, hardly moves or does anything of note.

We just had one of those games that we have occasionally...where we do absolutely fuck all going forward. Our crossing is never on point, our through balls just aren't good enough...our full-backs are just too patchy and Eriksen too inconsistent, if all three are having an off game we just aren't going to cut it, throw in Son, Dele and Kane and we have a shitshow like last night. We need at least four of these guys to be clicking to get our shit together and none of them were on it last night...

I can’t believe you just said we should sell Eriksen, Son, Dele and Kane to one of our rivals..

What do you mean it's not true. Have you even been following our games this season? Name me one game which we saw Eriksen or Dele get dropped

Frankly sick of football. And this season....no more, thank fuck it's over and done and so am I with it...........................
REALLY?? Did Man City/Ajax CL games not happen this season? Or is that all forgotten about just cos of last night?

Whilst the football we've played wasn't quite up to par with that of a few seasons ago, there have been moments this season of pure drama and fantasy, that I wouldn't have swapped for the World...

I think you're confusing an entire season, based on last night's disappointment...

Oh and Poch should really be addressing how we fucking start games.

Even if I think it shouldn't have been a fucking penalty, Sissoko still left his arm up way too long and that must have been the earliest goal we've let in yet in a season of shambolic first half starts.

It would've been lovely if this group had signed off with the biggest trophy (and Dembele would've been eligible for one as well) but they didn't fucking show up for the biggest game of their careers. I said after the match that the players don't deserve to feel disappointed because how could they have expected a result with that kind of performance?

The ref might've fucked up in minute 1, but we failed to react at all. For all the worship heaped on Harry, where was he motivating the team? Where was his desire? I saw it from Winks, Son and Rose, but nothing from him.

But in the end, lots of blame to go around. The ref, the players, Poch's tactics & subs, but he can't have been pleased with the nothing performance we gave, and yet he presided over it and failed to get a reaction out of them.

This wasn't a game where we were outclassed which would have been easier to bear. The players will have regrets - and they should. Unforgivable lack of desire on the biggest stage.

Despite all the hating on Trippier etc, it'll be sad that the era will end without a trophy and with many set to depart. Perhaps something greater will come out of it, but it's a pity it won't be with Eriksen, Toby, Dembele and I'm assuming quite a few more. Can Poch win a trophy? Jury's still out, but he hasn't with this group and this was his last chance. Let's see if there will be a "new project" this summer.

Anyone know if the referee's apologised yet?

Why would he apologise for a clear handball? You can't just do a Statue of Liberty impression in your own penalty area and expect to get away with the ball touching your arm. It was such an obvious penalty it's blowing my mind that anybody could argue otherwise.

Sissoko compltely failed to use his brain, not a single other player in our team would ever have put up their hand like that when a cross is coming inside the box. Most of them put their hands behind their backs they are so worried about penalties.
