Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just on Twitter. I love how there are so many that slag off the clubs policies and methods yet they completely choose to ignore or refuse to accept that it's those very principles and methods that have got us to where we are at present.

People saying they're sick and tired of it yet we have just secured our 4th Champions League qualification in a row, recorded world record profits ahead of some mental clubs far bigger than ours which if you like it or not does help us become a bigger team long term, have one of the most talked about football stadiums in the world and got to a Champions League final.

Go on any Twitter feed about our club and it's just constant bile.

People think we have an awful transfer policy? We currently have 6 players ranked in the top 100 most valuable players on the planet. We really don't do as bad as some make out but because we don't put our hands in our pockets all the time it gets a fair old amount of stick it must be said:

Kane, Dele, Son, Sanchez, Lucas & Eriksen all make the list of most valuable. When you take into account the fact we have a World Cup winning goalkeeper who'd be higher up if he was younger and two top class central defenders who would be higher up the list if it wasn't for their contract situations or age all in all we have a pretty impressive track record at present yet it's still slated.

Why are so many people seemingly so fed up with what we do? Our infrastructure has doubled in size, that in itself shows huge progression, as does our ability to develop talent further. I see very little wrong with what we are doing and it is still early days this summer it has to be said.

Ignore Twitter is always the correct decision. It's 99% lowest common denominator and 1% smart people telling me where to read or listen to their content.

Because the current business model has taken us as far as it can.

Criticising the way we operate doesn't mean we aren't grateful for how far that Levy and ENIC have taken us, it just means that we realise that the model we operated under before isn't going to be successful anymore given our current improved position in football.

We are victims of our own success in this regard but make no mistake, if we want to move to the next level we have to operate differently going forward.

Unless of course people are happy with what we have and don't care about winning major trophies.

I agree with you but imo, neither of those signings are going to happen, I sincerely hope I am proven wrong.
No you don't. Your'e one of those people who secretly hope the team you love don't sign anyone. Just so you can do this to random nobody's on a forum come August

Come on. Admit it

I need signings too - West ham just bought someone for fucks sake.

Should we follow West ham's transfer policy then? Ever wondered why they sign players early? it's because they are shit and no one else wants them.
I remember everyone saying exactly the same last season and how they were going to catch us.. Just for the record they finished 10th ( 19 pt behind us) got knocked out the FA cup by Wimbledon and the league cup by our reserves.
Do we really want to use them as a model for how we should behave??

That profit margin was greatly helped by the low spending on transfers and salaries.
