Yes I fully agree. Good post, and don't see enough of these by Spurs fans.
I'm so sick to the point of getting genuinely annoyed when I see people criticising Levy, the club policies - and are prepared to throw away so much of what we have worked so hard for over the past 10-15 years by slamming ridiculous amounts of cash on non elite clubs tables for their players.
Anyone that can't see the progress we have made is literally blind. This was by following a plan. When the going is good (making top 4, final, record profits) you would have to be an absolute fucking imbecile to jeopardise that by pleasing moronic fans who want to waste cash they aren't responsible for, on players who may not necessarily succeed.
I'm not saying buying players is a waste of cash, but the impatient, childish suggestions of just rushing deals through by throwing double our record transfer to date, on someone most people calling for it, have seen very limited playing minutes of in the first place.
I'm so pleased we have Levy in charge, and that our growth has been earned, and done in how I view to be the right way.
We should thank God Chelsea knocked us out in the semi's or it would have cost us 4th or getting to the final of the CL.

Yesterday I was reading some of the news feeds and links within. To see the mammoth fees involved in the speculation was, to my eyes, depressing. I don’t know if I honestly want to see Spurs jumping into the looney bin for 70 million pound players. To me, it reads ridiculous, that kind of money for a contract.
It’s much more of a reward to do things differently, but then I must pause and think the best players, get the best wages and win the best prizes, it’s a cross road point here this summer.
The current squad was running on fumes for months, so so lucky to finish 4th, huge credit for the efforts made. Fortunately into the majestic reality of a Champions League Final, beaten by the harsh realities of the game, again massive credit.
But the business model we operate leaves us with a perception problem, we look the weakest of the “big” clubs.
It must feel impossible to be Levy / Poch. They can never really do enough.

Of course the current model will continue to work. That's whats so great about our position compared to say Chelsea or Woolwich with what their owners are doing.
It's only been a matter of months we have been in a position able to afford higher salaries and transfer fees - and I would suggest Levy is stretching our our player costs in line with our growth.
Isn't Kane on 200k now? With a bunch of players over 100k - after years of crying about our 100k wage cap. When the time was right to increase it, Levy increased it. He didn't do it because of pundit and fan pressure - people who know very little about running a business let alone a football club.
I find it staggering that anyone could question his track record, and nothing he has done to date suggests he is on the verge of getting it all wrong either.
At this point our lack of trophies are down to players on the pitch. We have had plenty of sides capable of nicking a league cup or FA cup since Juande Ramos, it just hasn't worked out that way.
But Levy and Poch aren't planning on a plucky FA cup win against the odds. It's about being one of the huge clubs that trophies almost have a magnetic pull towards. The state of Man Utd, yet still shame us on the trophy front since Fergusson.
The trophys will come. I'm pretty confident about that, in the same way I feel that Barcelona, City, Madrid are all likely to win a cup or 3 over the next few of years.
You know I always thought Pleat was a fine manager and we made a huge mistake getting rid of him just to make room for Venables just because he was a name. Fucking awful manager who dragged us down.

Nice post. But I think it's a big if that we will become a huge club. & whilst we aren't, picking up trophies & keeping in the top 4 is the best we can hope for. Also usually picking up the small trophies is part of the process of becoming a huge club. I think you can look too far ahead sometimes. Football changes very quickly.
He now earns a reported 19.000 euro per week and Lyon’s top earner is Memphis Depay with close to 100.000 euro per week.
I expect he will get 100.000 pounds per week in his first year. At max on par with Dele (150k) but I highly doubt it.
He’ll be promised a lot of contract renewals based on how well he’s doing like we do with everyone else.
