Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So the quotes from Aulas were slightly out of context earlier. This is his exact quote on Ndombele leaving:

"In terms of the chronology, before accepting the transfer of Ferland Mendy to Madrid, we signed the young international U17 Belgian, Heritier Deyonge, from PSV Eindhoven. What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price."

Make of it what you will, but sounds to me like he wants his replacement in first.
Interesting comments. Makes it seem like they are happy for him to go, and Ndombele is happy to join Spurs, just need a replacement first.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a fee was close to being agreed.

This would have been a valid comment 2 years ago. It's been the best performing Spurs team in my lifetime as well, but its been that way for 5 years now. Is it not time to strive for more?
Good post. The flaw in saying it isnt about trophies & you should just enjoy the best team we have, is that poch & key players will probably go. So you're happy for the guy managing the best footballing team you have had in ages to go. & some of the key players playing in the best team you seen to go. Because they want trophies & More than best spurs team in years. We can't have it both ways. We have for a while but it's coming to a head soon.

What are you talking about! Money should be available. 3 self imposed transfer window bans, CL run, Top 4 again PLUS 25,000 match days fans revenue increase. It's insane to say there is no transfer kitty in the excess of £50m...

2 windows without signings.... You've been reading too many Honest John Honest John posts. :)

If we went balls to the wall in the domestic cups and not given a shit about the PL or CL we probably would could have nabbed one. And be in Europa, currently.

That 2016/17 League Cup was up for grabs!!!!
We were a penalty shoot out & 1 game away from the league cup. You are making big leaps that 1 final would have cost us top 4.

Aulas is doing a lot of talking up a deal for a player he 'doesn't want to sell'.
Football executives dissembling?

I was being facetious (mostly), but my broader point was that roster management is a huge part of Poch's job and that we as a club are living with fine margins at the moment. We aren't City where top 4 is bang on guaranteed. So little things here and there can add up.

Somehow I like Aulas lol

I agree that Poch wouldn't like that but the way Defoe tells it it didn't come across to me like he had a real issue with Bale, just an amusing anecdote.
Oh, I mean - what must have been key at the time was whether AVB had a problem with it (clearly he didn't and was happy to accommodate Bale as he was so clearly our best player). As long as it wasn't causing a revolt in the dressing room I'm sure Defoe let it roll over him.

The ethos at our club is obviously so different with Poch at the helm - and Kane as our talisman demonstrates the exact opposite attitude to training. I wouldn't assume that Bale would arrive back at Spurs imagining that everything is the same as under AVB, but any player showing that billy-big-bollocks mentality would be a time bomb with Poch.
