This is key to any perceived value otherwise one is just under-paying for a player they don't want.....

Right, you don't want a donkey no matter the financing mechanism.

But if Dani Ceballos is a player we can use, that's a pretty nice looking deal. And just because Madrid are willing to part with him, doesn't mean he's not one we can use.

That being said, I was all over the Kovacic hype train last summer, so I'm gonna be cautious on this one.

Then Pochettino walks because our model runs counter to even the so called lesser Prem clubs.

It's a mad world the Premier but we also generate an insane amount of money.

Excuses are limited, even with the new stadium and Pochettino will see his stock diminish if he presides over a downward spiral, and that comes if we are Scrooge-like again this summer.
And then we get say Eddie Howe, and the spin starts again - he brings through young players, the future's bright and so forth... ( he gets a pittance to invest)... *insert name of 17 year old young hope here* can do a job up front before getting loaned to Southend and disappearing from view...

Well we could never compete with Real Madrid/Barcelona/*insert name of top 6 rival who has overtaken us*, something about FFP, something about being patient...

I'm past retirement age by this point, given up on forums, half looking at league tables, grumbling, pre-dribbling and worried about making the toilet on time...

Another future is possible...

Absolutely!

Props on the humble outlook re: Kovacic too....

VDV & Lucas

vs

Serge

Works both ways I guess, but the incoming player gamble will always be there.

Great point about Kovacic. Last summer there was a lot of talk that we should buy Kovacic, what a talent he was, he would add real quality to our midfield etc

Now is anyone up for Kovacic plus 45 mill for Eriksen? Does anyone want to sign Kovacic at all?

Bullet dodged?

Absolutely. Not like Sarri didn't play him.... I just found him completely un-remarkable.

I was amazed how shite Kovacic was. Imagine paying out 40 mil for that last year. You’d be gutted.

Did anybody watch Wan Bissaka cut his own price tag by about 10 -20 mil earlier? Very kind of him.

Fair enough. Couldn’t think of any off top of head. Wonder how they pitch thdeal to Ceballos?!

^I hope it’s exactly like that. If Levy plays hardball maybe they will throw in an Isco.

ZZ favouring Isco was what kept Bale out of the mix last time around..... I don't imagine they're in that much of a rush to move him on even if he's not destined for the first XI next season.

Think RM were initially shopping him around for £60m.

....Didn't the Chavs pay some ridiculously high loan fee anyway tho'?

Prey tell.....

Well Dani, we're proposing that you get out of this place where nobody gives a toss about you and you go to a place where you can become a much better footballer, be appreciated and given second chances and play more regularly than here... You on board?

...Assuming that he'd be in with a sniff of the first XI of course.
