Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And imagine he picks up a bad injury this year?

Imo he was badly advised by his agent to go down he path he has, not sure he'll get more from it (although if he is lucky with injuries and plays until say age 36 at a top club paying high wages he may) but the risk is as you say, a bad injury or run of injuries and he risks losing a lot of money.

Given he has bee paid circa £3.5m or £4m pa for a good few years he certainly isn't going to be destitute ( provided of course his agent had endured it's invested wisely....)

Transfer fees and wages just make no sense whatsoever. They are that daft now you cannot use the price as a guide to how good the player is.

Totally agree, you end up with the ridiculous situation of a club quoting an astronomical asking price for a player because they want to try and keep him and someone like City coming in and paying it without batting an eyelid. Transfers escalate until you see prices of £70m - £80m being paid for players realistically in the £25m - £30m maximum category. Some may argue that the true price of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it but in comparison to actual 'value for money' some of the deals now going through defy logic.

Leicester have a mighty fine squad, a good good manager and a chairman who backs him.

Full respect to them.

No fcuking about as well. Identify targets and try and buy them as opposed to clubs who just prance around like peacocks.

How long has Rodgers been there and already he is clear in his mind about football philosophy and what his squad needs.

A definite contender for top 6 if not higher in my opinion.

Easier to identify and buy targets when they are Perez and Dunk and no other fucker is going to pay 40m for them.

I was more impressed when they were identifying and buying players like Mahrez and Kante for two bob.

Imagine paying 75M for maguire :myword:

Yes but it's a club that paid money for Sanchez and gave him a 5 year contract on £350,k pa and can't wait to get rid of him after a year ( but no takers due to the high wages) problem with Pogba on high wages and recently decided to give Rashford an eyewatering £320k PW..........otherwise known as a club with lots of money, no business or football sense and desperate to overhaul an under performing football squad where most fans want 50% of them gone !

And some of our fans think we have problems !

He’d get ripped in the prem, just like Lichsteiner, another “he’s won it all!” player did. The prem is a league where athleticism trumps experience.

In other news, not really transfer related, although he is available if your club really wants the services of a 5-star wrong-un who looked like he might be decent six years ago but turned out to be pretty shit, this is Janira Barm, Jesé Rodriguéz's new squeeze...

What the suffering fuck???

Anyone have any idea what kind of wages Alves was on? Is it even realistic for us to get him? If so, that’d be incredible. Free transfer and 150k/week for two years with KWP as backup. Sell Trippier for 30m and Aurier for 20m. If KWP can’t cut it then we play Foyth, Dier, Sissoko or someone there as back up. More than likely that Trippier / Aurier are making more combined than Alves would cost plus make some money to apply to other areas.
