Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The way I see our right back scenario is..

Internal

- Have Aurier or Foyth as first choice, with KWP as back up for both wing backs.

External

- Max Aarons for a rumoured £20m? They have just signed Byram for £750k.
- Atal? Not sure on a cost, but a very promising player.

Why no other comps?

2015/2016 = 19 apps as back-up (decent numbers)
2016/2017 = 22 apps as back-up (better numbers)
2017/2018 = 35 apps as #1 (big increase)
2018/2019 = 38 apps as #1 (even more)

Lets paint a full and honest picture here.

Every player has their detractors (stupid individuals can be heard ragging on Kane or whoever every weekend!) and by the same token a fair few immediately rushed to declare KT "better than Walker" when he started clocking up a few assists.

Sympathy... Violins.... Just alternative phrasing. You said you felt "sorry" for him - I'm reflecting on that sentiment, that's all.... I'm not debating the fact that you wish him well... I do to. I just don't see anything sympathy worthy about the guy doing his job and having a relatively successful run at it.

Not particularly random, no..... Just a reflection on the kinda situation where my sympathy may arise.... I also noted Davies who is widely under-appreciated.

Happy to leave it there... I don't wish to over-egg my point; thru fear it'll come across like I'm having a dig at KT..... I'm not.

I honestly don't think we're that far apart in our conclusive opinions. Maybe just how we arrive there... onwards and upwards eh :adesalute:

I do feel however we're not entering into the spirit of things by not dragging this out for pages and pages

Hmm VERY risky to go down with three RBs who aren't top 4 quality. Poch knows better but I hope we'll bring in a replacement.

If that is true (which I don't believe it is for all the people about to call me "negative") but if it is true, then that would be completely negligent.

KWP, Aurier and Foyth, none of them are good enough to be our first choice RB and if they were, why was a Trippier having a terrible season ahead of them before? Riddle me that one.

At the end of the day, Trippier, whilst not a very good RB, is currently our best RB, he should be our second choice RB, selling him is a stupid move imo, especially stupid if we aren't planning on replacing him with a better player.

Not if elsewhere multiple clubs are prepared to spend 10m on him (see earlier post).
£10m for Onomah would be up there as one of Levy's greatest ever masterstrokes.

As for players Fulham can have in a deal, I'm not sure who they would want?

N'Koudou - Could they afford wages?
Skipp - Probably be around the first team, but I think a loan would be beneficial for him.
Janssen - Wages again.
Edwards?

I keep hearing this response, is nobody allowed an opinion until the window is closed?

What's the point of this thread even existing if we all have to just wait until the window is closed to have an opinion?

I am not saying the worst is going to happen I am simply saying what I think, letting Trippier go is a mistake imo because our backup options are worse and even if we sign a player better than him I think Trippier would be our best backup option off the bench.

If we got a new RB and had Trippier as a bench option that would be the best case scenario, if we sell him now that means we have KWP and Aurier and a possible new signing to come in and hopefully hit the ground running (which is no guarantee and it's also no guarantee he will be better than Trippier, as Aurier has proven already.)

It makes no sense to sell off a player who is currently our best option at RB and take a risk on someone coming in and being better whilst also weakening our options from the bench.

I don't need to wait for the window to close to think selling Trippier is a mistake because he is currently our best RB option (even if I think he isn't very good.)

Personally I'd keep Trippier.

However if a player says they want to go or runs down their contract to one year ( and even 2 years is to short) then chances are the club has no real options other than to sell the player.

And that's the point you seem not to take on board saying ' the club wants to sell" when in the case of Allederweireld and Eriksen the club has to do something to protect its interest when a player has run down their contract. If we can get them to sign another contract, then it's a different story.

But you're gonna get your melodramatic moan in just in case, eh? :freundgoal:

Guess the gaffa may feel otherwise, you big fuckin' melt.

Every reply your whining shite receives, you counter with "I understand this..." yet your posts show NO understanding of anything other than a willingness to moan and melt over your self-admitted desire to see us "spend like City".

Bollocks.

You aren’t allowed one you negative cock womble just give it a rest for once

I haven't been negative at all and if you look at all my recent posts it has been me praising Levy for the Ndombele purchase.

Having an opinion that you don't share doesn't automatically make it negative, stop being childish.

I think selling Trippier would be a bad move for us considering the quality of our other RBs, if we purchase a new RB and he doesn't work out or ends up being a flop then what? We have to rely on Aurier, KWP or Foyth, none of which, imo, are good enough to be starters because if they were, they would have already been first choice.

I just think our best option would be to purchase a new RB, sell Aurier and KWP and have Trippier and the new RB compete for first choice.

I fail to see how that is "negative" and I don't understand the posters on here who continuously just want to argue with people they disagree with and immediately call them negative for having a different opinion to them, throwing that word around as a catch all to dismiss an opinion and just try and cunt another poster off doesn't make it true, it just means you're unwilling to have a discussion, in which case, why even bother posting on a forum in the first place?

Skipp would be a nice touch (with a clause for an emergency recall).... Got fuck all game time last season so a year of men's footy in the champo would be great for him. A sink or swim gig for Edwards could be good too.

[ Yo Notabadsquad - Still hiding from that dreaded red card are we? ]

Thought he was pretty decent in the games he got and with more playing time he'd get accustomed to the level quicker. Hopefully we're trimming the squad so we can also make more room for our youngsters. No more N'koudou's and Janssen's clogging up the squad
