The competitive position of the club vis a vis the rest of the league was never as weak as Alan Sugar made it look, nor as strong as Mauricio Pochettino made it look.
That's fucking bogus.... We've been a consistent top 4-6 team for well over a decade inc 1 x 2nd & 2 x 3rd.
The one year that dipped we bounced back strong the following season.
Alan Sugar scumbag that he is, saved us from bankruptcy. The competitive position only comes after we stay solvent so that's a bit academic. But if your point is that we on average achieve positions according to our wage bill then you are right. You old romantic you.
Don't expect the team to bought back quickly there is a lot of work to be done especially expenditure, on a positive note when Leicester won the league Chelsea finished 7th the following year they were league champions.
