Generally agree but haven't seen links from credible sources other strikers.

Would agree about Rebic, but think he is now at AC Milan as well and they want to sell Piatek as they don't see him playing with Ibra whereas Rebic can as a winger. So aren't likely to sell Rebic

I'd guess that Jarod Bowen would be the closest of the names I mentioned to Rebic though.

Exactly the reason why someone like Rebic makes more sense and Piatek makes no sense for us either.

The interview I read said that Levy, getting flak for making no signings in Summer 2018, said that money for Grealish was available, but that Poch didn't want the transfer. He went on to say that Poch turned down other transfers.

So I put summer 2018 down to two people wanting very different things and the fans losing out.

Interesting, I read Poch was a Grealish fan and wanted him in badly. Obviously mixed messages.

I don’t blame Poch for being picky, he raised expectations at the club, top 4 was now standard and a lot of our cheap buys like Nije and Nkouduo were not top 4 standard so probably expected players of a higher level.

That’s the current issue with the club, we are a top 4 club on what was a mid or lower table budget. Stadium is done now so that might change a lot as cash can be diverted to the squad but it was always going to break down in the meantime. You can’t live like a prince on a paupers wage, hopefully this will change.

If we didn't have Parrott coming through I'd see the need for a forward being more pressing than it is. It's a pig not having someone to come in for Harry whilst he's out but I'm with you.

DM unit most pressing moving forward followed by the RB, CB and backup FWD issues we face. Got no problem getting a beta striker up top this window if it means we can use the funds moving forward in areas where we bleed weakness. My current money is on Camavinga to Rennes, I think he'd Ben wonderful alongside Ndombele and Gedson in midfield.

Agree about Parrott coming through BUT, Parrott is almost 18 so when he comes into his prime he's likely to be 21 and 3 years away (when Harry will be about 30).

Until then Parrott will be playing increasing bit and pieces - I really don't see him starting more than a handful of games next season (lets ay 6 or 10 maximum) so that means he's not really a back up next season.

I really want Parrott to succeed but think we need to bring in an interim solution to goalsoring.

As I posted earlier that could be another striker or it could be one or more winger/strikers or goalscoring AM's who could lead the line when required but can also play alongside Kane or Parrott.

Incidentally Parrott has played as a LW in several Irish youth sides clearly to help develop him whilst not putting pressure on him by playing him as no 9. And I think that is what we could do next season to give him playing time alongside playing Kane.

But we do need either a striker or another forward (winger/striker or goalscoring AM) as we don't have the number necessary to play the games we have coming up. And goals win games, so I'd prioritise that above a dm (which there aren't many if any links to - Can is the closest and he's not a real dm).

Levy has already said that the club won't change it's policy so we will keep on paying Harrods prices for Aldi products it's what he believes in, unless ENIC fuck off this is the way the club continues to operate.

I don't think it was as simple as if I don't get that one player we get no one.

Yet all evidence points to that being what happened.

I think 2018 was the start of the end for Poch and Levy. Levy wanted to bring in players cutting corners, Poch had his mind made up who he wanted. Both were in the wrong and we the fans suffered for the ego clash.

Player said no.... My question remains (see above).

If you have any contradicting evidence to share please do.....

By the time the season ended, the failure to replace Dembele exposed a frightening soft underbelly to our squad.

Then why did we buy no-one...Tielemans (loan), VDB (15m).....? (You'd have seemingly welcomed either).

Levy was prepared to spend. Neither would have broke the bank.

Hahhahaha

Recent players on top my head we’ve missed out on due to the cunt cheapening out on wages

Mane
Grealish
Wijnaldum
Willian
Dybala
De Ligt (season before last)

You can’t charge the highest STs in the league but put on bottom cloggers on show

The media I read at the time said Poch wanted Grealish, we where close to a deal then the Villa takeover happened and they stopped it.

Just to add to that from experience of buying companies in the real world

When bidding for a company (or football club) it is absolutely standard that once the current owner agrees the bidders deal in principle they agree that no assets will be sold whilst due diligence happens and the deal is finalised or closed with ownership transferring. Otherwise the bidder would find the owner welling assets he is bidding for.

So as I understand it Levy agreed a deal on Grealish with the former owners (Grealish even said farewells to team mates according to Brum press) but former owner then said the Grealish deal is on ice until Villa sale is concluded.

Purchaser broke every record for speed in concluding the Villa purchase - and then said 'Grealish is key to Villa promotion which is worth £100m + to us, so we are not selling irrespective of whatever money you bid'

Big risk for new owner but it paid off with Villa in PL

So Grealish to Spurs was one that got away, no fault of anyone

Dude, 21 is not a striker's peak.

I take your broader point, but I'd like to give Troy a crack.... Rashford, Greenwood and [forget his name] at United been scoring from a similar young age.

Don't know.

I honestly get the feeling Poch got pissy because the scouting team was bringing in players he wasn't interested in. Apparently Levy was desperate to get Grealish in, he then did an interview saying Poch turned Grealish down.

People will say that's a load of crap, but here's a thought, if we don't bring in a striker this month, will Jose or Levy get the blame?
There’s enough stories (and results) to assume that our recruiting policy from 2016-2019 was shambles. Poch being inflexible in his squad demands, Levy being too focused on the stadium to provide ample attention to the squad as well as his unwillingness to yield responsibilities to a DoF. The cavalcade of players that we’ve been legitimately linked to in the past 3 years could probably field a competitive premier league team.

The only reason we seem capable of recruitment currently is Mourinho and his myriad of connections in Europe. If somehow he forces Levy to sign a DoF (Campos) and we learn from the success of Liverpool and their recruitment policy, then it will all be worth it.

I feel like even if Levy sold Kane to Woolwich for massive profit the likes of Airfixx Airfixx would still defend him on here. He really is Teflon Dan

I agree I'd like to see Parrott get chances - but like Greenwood at ManU (who is about 6 months or so older) he should get some chances but not every week as his body is still growing so couldn't take the strain of playing all matches and he would still be developing his playing style.

So as I say I think it will be a year or two before he;s ready to start even half the matches.
