We've seen reports that they want £60m although Bill Madrid has shot that down. Let's be honest if they wanted £60m for him it's a no go. £20m-£30m more realistic perhaps t then we don't know what's being negotiated and that's paper talk etc.
Fair enough. But how do you put true value on any player?

If he's Jose's choice and costs 50million and goes on to score the goals that wins us major trophies he'd be worth every penny.
If he costs 20 million and flops like Jansenn he's a waste of money.

Sometimes in football you have to take a financial risk or two and back your managers judgement

True and you're right but £50m on someone who probably would be a bench warmer once Kane is fit amounts to about 1/5th of our entire retained profit/ wealth accumulated. We do need to take risks though and if he's someone Jose wants them anything £50m or under should be within a club like ours scope yes. I don't see this guy being one Jose yearns for but who knows John. The men with the money and the men with the need are most of the time two very different people with very different agendas maybe that's the case right here.

Probably - none of the above - if we need a six month loan then pretty much anyone will do, but if it's a permanent second striker purchase then wait until the summer. We're not winning the league, we might win a cup but as we saw last season cup games don't rely on a single striker - cometh the hour and all that.

If we are in the middle of a rebuild then let's not do another Janssen, or a Llorente let's wait and get it right.

That said if we can get a 'real' striker signed then why the feck not - right now for all clubs looking at top strikers that seems highly unlikely this window.

I thought i read somewhere, that we had offered £12m, but Real Sociedad were holding out for £21m. If that's the case, we should be getting him for £5m + Onomah's buy-back-clause
