Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's Ajax, new players come through with each passing week seemingly.

In centre defence they have Alvarez, Martinez, Blind, Veltman, Schuurs and Pierie. Midfield, it's hard to keep up, but generally VDB and Martinez have played there alongside Gravenbach (hint scouting team) Eiting, Alvarez, and a few others. For example Mazroui (again....Spurs scouts) has played right back and midfield this season while Ajax have brought in another youngster Dest to play right back.

Ajax is a real amazing club, the way they bring players through is simply incredible.
Good post. Some names I don't know.
However where are your adverbs?
"Ajax is a real amazing club"?

I'd argue that we do not sit on a position of power in the league. Only Liverpool, Man City and to some extent Man United (through their financial means) sit on any real position of power within the Premier League.

We could and probably to some extent will revert to signing promising youngsters and developing them with a mix/core of established names. But the fans better be ready for that not guaranteeing trophies. At least not in the short term.
Us older fogies might be dead by then. I'd love one more cup before I die.
Not Audi.....

I would argue there is more of a need because of the league being flooded with money, transfer prices are silly because of it. We can't get involved in bidding wars.
Any young promising talent is going to be the subject of a bidding war
If we don't get involved. we are going to be buying old men. Smalling, Foster etc. or players who are just journeyman. This is football in the 21st century. You have to go with the flow or get left behind which is happening to us. I hate it but you can't fight it. My fear is that ENIC is going to drain every last profit they can and then sell out. To me, it's the only logical explanation as they are an investment company and if you're not investing in your holdings and assets. you are planning to cash them in. They're not in the slightest bit emotionally invested. It's just business as a Corleone might say. The unpleasant truth is we DO need an Abramovich or an Ali Ben Semtex or a Jeff Bezos to pick up the ball and run with it
No pun intended.

Sorry, I just don't understand how you come to these conclusions mate

Don't understand your thinking behind your post, so here's why the facts might arrive at different thoughts.

Not sure why you think we wont compete for younger players and will only be buying old men - these are the players who joined the first team squad in the Summer and January Transfer Windows :

1. Ndombele - £55m (CM)
2 Lo Celso - £41m (AM/CM)
3. Bergwijn - £27m (AM)
4. Clarke - £10m (AM)
5. Sessegnon - £25m (LB/LW)
6. Gedson - £ 4m (DM) (18 month loan fee only)
7. Tanganga - Free (CB/RB/LB) Academy product
Total £162m

Spot the player there who is more than age 24 !

Of course if an older player comes up who fills a need for us - Foster (GK) at Watford as a no 2 or 3 GK for example - why not ?

But I think you'll find in the summer we once again bring in a number of younger players both for the first team, and indeed maybe one or two to develop for the future if the opportunities are there.

And given that the only significant recent sale was Eriksen at a little under £20m (and maybe the sale of Dembele at US$10m) it means the club funded £100m+ of new players, mainly in the summer. So its quite possible (and even likely to continue to make Spurs an attractive club for players, fans and investors alike) the club will invest another £100m or so in the summer, regardless of your views on the owners are.

Can we get a refund on Ndombele?
