We need a leader. How we have failed to acquire one I do not understand.
Failing that we need players of quality who are consistent and want to win trophies.
Is that so much to ask for?

Identify a leader. Who wants to come to Spurs and is good enough to play for Spurs?

Lloris is a World Cup winning captain. But not a suitable leader?

Kane lead England to a World Cup semi final, but not a leader?

I understand what you are saying and you are crying out for Roy Keane but they don't grow on trees.

And that doesn't factor in if a Roy Keane style leader would work in a modern locker room or just cause problems.

A player behaving like Keane would not make many friends in modern day locker rooms I think. Even Zlatan, who is a massively pigheaded winner with a mean streak, knows that you also have to be friendly and look after your teammates. Same can be said for guys like Terry and Ramos.

Being consistently linked to two new CBs make me wonder if Jose wants to eventually run three at the back.

Dier, Sanchez, Toby, Gabriel, Kim, Tanganga is decent depth.

Aurier would be much better in a wingback role. As would Sessegnon. Though, we'd still need to bring in another RB to challenge Aurier

think its one new cb so either or, not both.

That would makes 5 cb's, who in addition may need to cover one or both FB positions as we may well end up with Davies/Cirkin as LB and a new RB, so the versatile Tanganga will be very useful to cover FB as would any of the other CB's who can cover one of the FB positions

1 + a loan-back deal on the lad Ferguson would be sweet.

I'd be considering a loan for Japh too if we can score him somewhere as a starter.

Hojbjerg was the Southampton captain, but sure he's not good enough for some here.

He was their captain but not professional enough to keep playing well and keep up the standards he’d obviously set to become captain. Now it’s apparently effecting his performances according to some (although they’ve looked no different to what I’ve previously seen of him). Do we really want another player willing to down tools as soon as things don’t go his way?

Don't agree with that, he played 90 minutes after the captaincy was taken off him and played especially well in their first game back.

Other players have kicked up before we've signed them too.

I want a quality defensive midfielder, proven in the league and who was trusted enough to be a club captain at a relatively young age.

Spurs want him at the right price. Looks nailed on tbh.

No need to worry, if we are stupid enough to buy him, we will definitely be the highest stop on his career trajectory.
