Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Thought Jose had worked on our defending?

We didn't really outplay them, we had better possession, that's totally different, they weren't hanging on and their keeper had little to worry him.

What are you supposed to do with one creative player? We have more than one.

But don't worry, much like Toby and Jan of 2016, the legend of Jose 2003-2010 remains.

I don't think it was a masterclass of outplaying them but we were the better team in the first half.I am also not saying that Jose gets a 10/10 for me just that if you do down the list of problems Jose is low on that list.

I would love to see the list of creative players that we have because outside of GLC I see zero.

As for the legend of Jose I would say that is influencing the haters more than anything. The haters are letting their prior hatred of him cloud what is actually happening out there.

Buddy, we didn't create any chances. That's what it comes down to. Jose has the squad with way more quality. TBH, Wilder's side didn't have to do much, Spurs didn't come to really play.
Wilder had a squad with heart and desire and any team that has that against the shower of shit that we have put together will always come out on top.
We have no leader on the pitch and we have not had one for years.
We have a team of gutless wankers who should be ashamed but the vast majority of them will not give a fuck.
I just wish some of us were let into the dressing room after a display like that

Needs the players and the financial backing.

Klopp's Liverpool squad didn't just fall out of the fucking sky.

Agree but difference is Liverpool recruited well. Klopp went to Liverpool, identified the two key weak points in his team, discussed it with recruitment, then, they went out and bought two exceptional players - a world-class goalkeeper and centre back. So they spent big, but it was well targeted.

I'm actually gonna defend Levy and Enic a bit here and say we have spent some money. N'Dombele was £60 million. Davinson was £45 million. We also had a fortune to spend post-Bale, which we mostly wasted - apart from Eriksen, who we got great service from for £11 million. But, when we've had the dough we've mostly spent it badly, buying players we don't need, for positions we don't need filling. Individually our players are mostly fine/good, we just haven't built a good team. This has been a mess for a while, which Poch was indicating in his pressers. It's gone downhill since he went. Jose was not my choice but he's largely playing with players who aren't his, so I think he needs at least one cycle with an aim to putting it right. At the moment it's too disjointed and we have too many similar players. Our recruitment has been more bad than good in the past few years. And that doesn't mean Jose gets a free pass either - he picked the wrong team today and is sometimes using the wrong tactics. But, I largely don't blame him for the current situation though, he hasn't been here long enough. I just wish our club would use a bit of nous at times with its strategy and recruitment.

Poch took a squad that looked awful under AVB and made them progressively better.

So far Mou has taken a squad that looked bad under Poch and made them worse.

Let's stop acting like a manager can't actually improve players.

Made them worse how?

When he took over we were in 13th now we are in 9th or 10th and look better as well.

All those coaches require excellent fullbacks.

And we have?
That is not true. BMG don't have excellent full-backs. But they can run all day. Neither of them are particularly good footballers, and one of them doesn't even appear to be much of a defender. Mukiele defends very well for RBL (he's like Kyle Walker without the brain farts), but can be very sloppy on the ball, particularly in the final third. Angelino is good going forward, but he is on the slow side, has no physicality and I'm not sure he's much use when it comes to defending.

The biggest worry is that if Mourinho isn't the man (which he likely isn't) - it probably means another few years until we actually are where we want to be.

We're potentially looking at 2023-2024 when we actually get back to where we want again IF this Mourinho experiment doesn't work.

So that's 23-24 years of Levy. To get where we want to be

If Mourinho isn't the man, maybe it's time for everyone to quit their denial and finally admit ENIC ain't the owners

Mourinho reminds me a bit of Brian Clough in his last season at Nottingham Forest where he took them down- a once great man who stayed past his sell by date. Now I am not saying that Mourinho will take us down if he stays but he appears to me to be past his best. He has had a fair amount of time to work with some talented players. Today was terrible. Our team on paper is vastly superior to Sheff U which means it must be down to organisation and or effort/motivation and it is down to Jose

You have a short memory, we had a manager who had us challenging for league titles and CL with hardly any spend. There are a fair few teams playing better than the sum of their parts.

And? For all that did he get any backing from the hierarchy at the first sign of trouble during the painful rebuild? Was our scouting system fit for purpose? Did we sufficiently invest in the right players when we were riding the wave? There is only so far you can go without properly investing in the team. The club right now is in a mess. Scouting fucked, no money to buy players, head of academy leaving, youth teams no longer promising like they were five or six years ago.

Pure complacency and neglect. And you think a new manager is going to change anything:levylol:

Mourinho hasn't recruited anyone really yet, and of the ones he has, I'd sincerely have doubts they would be his first choice in a Non-ENIC world, but it is what it is. There's a reason Gedson was allowed out on loan.

Even Bergwijn wasn't his first choice, but he was signed. The transfer dealings just all have a stink of being prioritised financially IMO, Bergwijn has been bright. I have high hopes as he works his socks off, especially coming in so fresh. Night and day with Ndombele from a new signing.
