Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I have watched a good deal of Castagne since the restart, and I would be relatively happy with him. He switches off occasionally, but I haven't seen him do anything ridiculous yet. He does well in duels, I really like his touch and crisp passing. He doesn't seem to be able to take people on, so I think that is likely to upset people, but I can live with it.

I am watching Brozovic's off-the-ball work here against Napoli, and his lack of intensity is alarming me.

And I appreciate that co-commentators talk a lot of shit, but this guy has just said that Skriniar is not very comfortable in wide areas, and I really don't like the sound of that. Is he slow?

Has Castagne been playing RB or LB when you have seen him ?

Have you seen Hans Hateboer play at RB ?

Thoughts on Castagne v Hateboer at RB ?

Chelsea really have made such a fantastic signing in Pulisic. Could be as good as hazard. That and with the likelihood of Havertz, plus Werner/ Ziyech already signed, I don’t see us getting anywhere close to Chelsea. United looking likely to sign Sancho. Whilst we are fumbling around for Hojberg. All rather familiar and depressing for us as per usual.

Both. But always as a wing-back, so I find it hard to say how he would fare as a full-back.

Have you seen Hans Hateboer play at RB ?
Yes, but I have paid almost no attention to him.

No idea, I am afraid.

Have you watched either of them?

Chelsea, city, utd and Liverpool are untouchable because we are not interested in matching them, outside of them fifth spot looks the only option available to us.

Not enough to form a real opinion. Atalanta seem to usually play with wing backs, so not sure how either would fare as a full back as neither probably really tested there recently.

Castagne obviously has the attraction of covering both sides if needed, although if he's our only RB/RWB that might be academic.

Catagne has one left on his contract, Hateboer 2 years but both apparantly available (although Atalanta finished 2nd this season they are not a big club, so good players could be persuaded to move on with the right incentive)

Spurs are singing Ndombele,Lo Celso and Seggesson whilst we cannot sign anyone - there is no chance we finish above them.

You see how easy that game is to play? Do you honestly think they all of the players they are signing will be a success? Which was the last club that had a 100% strike rate in the market?

We on paper had an amazing window last summer - in reality it actually stunk the place out.

I do love how when United are linked with a player it doesn’t constitute fumbling but does with us. Funny that

If Troy gets double digits in goals for Millwall I think we can all call his loan a massive success. The important thing is game time. It will be his first season of men's football so minutes have to take priority over numbers IMO.

The right move for him.
Surely as part of a loan is game time? What’s the point of loaning him out and not playing he should be gauranteed playing every week.

Maybe but last summer I had one freind (a ManU supporter) and another a Chelsea supporter both full of eny at our TW.

Less so by Christmas when most of our incoming players had played

Its the anticipation that kills people.

Utd getting Sancho will help elevate them, they are showing signs of slowly getting themselves amongst it again, the top four will be the same as the season just ended.

I think there is a clear difference in signing guys like Sancho, Havertz and Ziyech who have all shown a hell of a lot more at a higher level than Sessegnon or even Ndombele.

Sure not every transfer will work out but when you bringing in guys at a high level versus the dreck we sign the chances are a lot better that the high level players with a track record will work out.

Just like Alexi Sanchez was going to elevate them right? Firstly there is no guarantee they will sign him and secondarily there is no guarantee he will be a success. So there is no point presenting an opinion as a fact,

I saw a list of pundits predications for us last season - virtually all had us in 3rd place. We signed Ndombele a player that would surely elevate us after all.

How did last season work out again?

Havertz is pure hype and pure potential at this stage whilst Ziyech was never held anywhere near the regard as Ndombele.

And I really don’t understand this - the issue is that our signings are not the status of United ( the richest club in the PL) or Chelsea which has a billionaire owner.

Did I miss something here? When did we operate in their market exactly? Even Liverpool don’t which is why they missed out on Werner.

So the complaint is that we are not as big as those clubs - you can moan all you want but they isn’t going to change that fact

That’s because we do fumble around, it’s a known fact. United signed Fernandes in Jan who pretty much single handily dragged them to a CL place. It’s signings like that which elevate teams.

Havertz just had a great season in the Bundesliga he is more than hype. He is also doing it at a younger age without the off field BS of Ndombele.

Ziyech may not have the hype of Ndombele but he has shown more, for a longer period of time without the off field BS.

No we can't match the spending of United and Chelsea, but right now we can't even match teams like Inter either. We are currently competing with Everton for players and hoping that the player will reject that move so we might be able to beat them out.

I think there should be a level between United/Chelsea and the players that we are linked to. I don't get why so many fans want to consistently crap on the idea that our club can be ambitious.

Liverpool buy shrewdly. we don't. we could've had mane if levy paid him what he wanted

What pundits had us down for third place I must have missed that one.
Whether Sancho moves to them or not utd are starting to put it together, I think he will go there as they are one of only three teams who can afford it.
