More wishful thinking???

- Post-covid (i.e. when the stadium re-opens) we'll have less revenue to spend than DURING covid? How's that gonna work then?
- All the poorer teams below us with less revenue to spend are gonna financially out-gun us post-covid?
- There's no way on earth Jose could be replaced by a younger manager that does a good job?
- Leicester, Wolves, Everton, Southampton will all just be one big success story during the same time-frame will they?
- Woolwich will have a random lottery win will they?

Take your shit-tinted glasses off fella.... We've had one iffy season.
Not wishful thinking because I don't wish for us to be in that position.
Our scouting and recruitment suck eggs, Mourinho came in thinking he could work with the current squad but it's clear that he doesn't think it's good enough.
If we had a proper system in place, a DOF system in place I'd feel more confident about the future but with Levy at the helm I don't.

Players and winning stuff yes. That's what we want the champions league to provide as well.
I think we had to move on, MVP MVP . As much as I loved the old place, you look at photos of it now, and you wonder how we managed in it. One shitter in every bog, and never any toilet roll left by the time the final whistle had blown.

God forbid we wait and see rather than completely write off any chance we have to steady the ship.

(You say you'd feel more comfortable with a DOF but as we learned yesterday you want pretty much 100% autonomy for the manager too..... Can't have both; so which is it?)

Yes, it does.

That's because we have a guy who is great at the non-footballing side of things (but braindead in relation to the footballing side of things) who, because he is such a control freak, egomaniac, and lover of haggling, has to get his fucking tentacles everywhere.

Having a DoF is unlikely to change much, cos them tentacles are going nowhere. He won't give people like that the autonomy they need to do their jobs. That's why the last guy left. We could draw up relatively amazing lists of targets (young-ish, technically adept footballers) that are available at very good prices (they are changing hands in this very window) but you're still going to get Discount Dan doing the negotiating. And you can't trust the guy to do it in good faith.

John, you are either the worlds biggest shit stirrer, or you've told yourself that many times that Levy's a cunt that you've become blind to all evidence put in front of you that Poch had money to spend that summer.

Sort it out man, get some help.
Ok smart guy, how many foreign places did we have in the team to slot a player into that summer? Surely if money was available and the intention was to bring someone in there must have been foreign slots available to place them in. And if there weren't any then surely DL was hard at work getting rid of the dross to open slots up, right? Did anyone leave and open slots to be filled by all this money you speak of? By my count there was 1 slot available and it was filled by Moura in Jan. There was also an issue with HGs limiting squad size that year. So was the money that you are saying was available for only 1 slot (De Jong)? Was it real money or was it "my fax is going to break" money?

There was an article about a meeting with Poch and CE where CE mentioned his desire to leave that summer and that he was NOT going to renew but DL priced him out of a move. Surely if your desire is to bring in players and there was money available you move this player on so he doesn't get into his last year like what happened.

We didn't borrow £1bn to build it. We spent in the region of £363m of our own money on it, and borrowed the rest, unless I am very much mistaken.

The rest, the last time I looked was 650m which increased to 760m with the extra 110m loan from Merrill Lynch. And we've now borrowed another 175m.

Either way, no bank is lending a club (let alone one generating the type of revenues we generated at WHL) even 500m quid to spend on some footballers, and even if it did, we wouldn't get it past FFP.

It's nonsense.

How did we generate the difference between £1bn and £637m?

Simple question - do you think Levy's salary as highest paid Chairman in the PL is justified?

Can you show me a reliable article that says “Club X bid Amount Y for CE and Y was a fair bid but DL denied the offer”?

I know there are sources that said DL asked too much, but I can’t find a genuine article that states we actually denied a decent offer.

I want a DOF system with the manager getting players he wants rather than players he doesn't want.

Then you may have to get used to the fact that DOFs have regularly been known to buy players above a manager's head as they're tasked with recruiting according to a determined vision that transcends one particular manager.

Like anything in life, it’s about finding the right people who are talented but work together well. I always think it’s better if the DoF is involved in selecting the coach, though, because then he has even more of a reason to help him succeed.
