Danny Rose was wrong for saying it to the Sun of all papers and on the eve of the season starting

A big difference between a player saying it or a bunch of nobodies on a forum
Soooooo when Poch “begged” for scraps in the papers it was fine.
But Rose, saying what you all think to try and better the club and make ENIC spend is a cunt that should have had his contract ripped up?

Makes perfect sense

Then you’re not in the group I’m taking about

But those saying he’s bang out of order for saying everything they agree with “because he’s a player” is utterly bizarre.

Yes it is a big difference when a players says it, and like you, should have applauded him not abused him.
But if I remember correctly, the majority of the people calling him a cunt, a shithouse, and a fat snake among other things, were those who steadfastly support ENIC and couldn't stand to see them criticised by one of our players. Giving credence to the arguments I and others were putting forward at the time.

It's funny that we are being linked to so many 30 year + players.

There's a lot of quality to be found among players who teams aren't dreaming of turning into a 100M pound asset in three years.

Sell on value matters, and you shouldn't be blind to that, but there are other objectives.

Especially since Spurs are in win-now mode with a very temporary manager and their two golden attacking stars in their late 20's.

What he saying here isn't "I didn't want to win a domestic trophy" he's saying it's nonsense that for us (or any team) winning one will take them to a new level. It won't. Woolwich have proved this time and again in the last few years. He's also just reiterating the simple truth that top 4 will always be our priority - and for fucking good reason.

Avoiding the Poch stuff for a minute, but from where I'm sitting four FA cups in six years looks pretty good to me. Maybe it didn't take Woolwich to the 'next level' - only record investment in world-class players will make them Liverpool or Man City - but I'd take multiple cups over a dusty trophy cabinet any day of the week.

Poch never arranged an interview with a paper on the eve of a match and never categorically came out and criticised club policy in the way that Rose did

They really aren't fair comparisons

Agreed, that's how I remember it.

Then there was the thing that he shouldn't have spoken to The Sun in particular. Never really understood that. Yes it's a nasty shitrag, yes Hillsborough and yes Murdoch, but would it have been any better if he'd spoken to say the Daily Mirror, whose previous owner had stolen hundreds of millions from his own employees? Or the Daily Mail, which supported the Nazis in the 1930s?

Morality-wise, barely a Rizla paper separates any of Her Majesty's Tabloid Press

For me it's not so much which paper, it's the press in itself. I think that sort of dirty laundry is best aired behind closed doors. Unprofessional.
