I have seen him play CB, mainly, and I have to say my impression of him is that his defensive instincts when playing in that position are not at all good. And he is poor on the ball. Bags of pace, mind you.
I think he similar to Sanchez, except better on the ball than Sanchez.

I've mainly seen him play RB for Germany. Gets up and down the wing and does have a good cross on him. He impressed me more as a RB than CB.

Better on the ball than Sanchez? Crikey, I'm not sure about that, to be honest. If he is, I don't think it's by much! Not sure when I last saw him play RB, however.

I'd much prefer Mukiele, but he has found himself somewhat out of favour/been putting in some ropey displays since the restart. Dunno why.

Werner/Giroud/Abraham:moursad:

Hypothetically, as at last Jan, we'd have had Kane/Giroud/Parrot... :mourthumb:

Point being; Giroud was as good as #1 for them by the end of the season.... Yet our attempt to buy him was deemed the proverbial "disgusting lack of ambition" by the usual contingent.

(Tbh, I'd be suprised if they don't send TA on loan.... Either he or OG are gonna rust up a la Llorente if Werner proves a bonafide hit.)

See Wolves supposedly have to sell before they can buy. Doherty is about the best right back that has been mentioned, particulaly attacking wise which with our lopsided fullbacks could work out well. Not ideal as he's 28 but could hit the ground running and meets Mourinho's absurd, old fashioned height criteria. 3 years left on his contract though. If we want a good first choice fullback fact is we're going to have to pay a decent wedge.

This analysis would suggest that playing with 3 at the back could become an option for us. Both Gedson and Sessegnon playing flying full backs would be something I would love to see again in our cup games/ easy EL games tbh.

I'd be far more comfortable signing someone with experience (even more-so an EPL track record!) given Serge & KWP both doing the off.... Can really do without the first few months of the season being compromised by a period of experimenting with RB personnel and/or waiting for someone to settle.

Agreed. Knows the league, not settling into a new country and given he might be our only proper right back next season it cuts the risk of him not settling. I'd rather Pereira but Leicester wont sell if they'e floggling Chilwell. Doherty next best realistic choice from prem right backs.

We didn't play a back 3. Sess played as a LW (Sonny's position). Gedson played in Aurier's position - offensive RB.

I really don't understand why people are saying this. If we played a back 3 yesterday, we've been playing a back 3 since Jose arrived.

Indeed, it also implies Crikin was playing as a CB when he came on.
