Doherty is perfect to play as an offensive FB. Under Jose, Maicon, Coentrão and Ivanovic have all played in this position. Respectively, Chivu, Arbeloa and Azpilicueta (a LB in Jose's second tenure at Chelsea) played the more conservative role on the opposite side - the "Ben Davies" role.
I'm talking about three winning teams - all of them played in a 4-2-3-1; all of them played with one conservative and one progressive FB.
Doherty is the best player Jose could have for the attacking FB position since Ivanovic in 2014-15.

My only problem with the lopsided system is that it needs Son to maintain the width on the left, and I think he’s far more effective when he drifts into central areas than sticking on the left. Hopefully they’ve been working on outside to inside runs with him.
Hmmmm Doherty is a way better attacking rb then he is defensive. Thats why i think he is more a wing back then a RB.
Thiago contract has just one year left, that's why. And 15 milion for Doherty is very cheap but can't explain why. Maybe of this guy

I’ve heard this, but when was the last time Wolves played a back four? By very nature of being a WB he’s gonna be doing less defending and caught out of position sometimes.
He is better than anything we have at FB, especially LB, and better than what they had last year/currently have. Sure it may be an overpay but with Chelsea who cares as it doesn't stop them from buying anyone else.
I agree with your point if it were Liverpool or City, Chilwell may not make them challenge those teams but it definitely makes Chelsea better than they if they didn't sign him and for us trying to catch them it is not a good thing that they added him.
Clearly you haven't taken your medication today. I suggest you take your Lithium, lie down and allow your BP to lower itself. Otherwise Spurs may lose a loyal supporter.

They had around £180m in sales in the bank. Really, like it always does for them, the transfer ban, selling Hazard, it all ends up working out for them, giving them cash in a depressed market.

This is probably the biggest problem I have with it.
All the home grown players at Chelsea need first team football now if they are going to stay.
Call me old fashioned but i'd rather play a flat 4 and either play 433 or 4231 and ensure creative/attacking impetus from both central and wide areas..... Particularly 433 becoming an aggressive 4123 (inc. 2 creative CMs) when in possession.
I would take hudson odoi off them. won't happen though
We would need an exceedingly good 6 for that.
