All those retrofitting their opinions to accomodate cunts like Suárez and Costa...

Perhaps we should get England's Brave John Terry in as Jose's nº 2. After all...

16 million fee, scouting system fails us again. No good going after the lad when he's an established prem player, if he does well his price could be 70-80m.
And if he doesn't make the grade, that'll be why we passed on him. Hindsight is 20:20.
There is risk with all buys, see Ndombele, Soldado etc. 16m is low risk if he don't make the grade not much money is lost on him.

One thing is not much money would be lost.
Other is that I guess he would qualify has home-grown? And if it does not work out, we could sell him to relegation struggler in some point in future for like 10 mil still...

But I am torn about Eze. Not pretending that I've seen him play much, but it has this James Maddisson; Harry Maguire; Alfie Mawson etc feel about him - talented young player from Championship who could take straight step up to EPL and become starter for strong team. At the same time our attacking options are quite good - behind Harry we have Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Alli, Lamela and Sessegnon. I would be okay with exchange of Lamela -> Eze (as we have Alli and Lo Celso/Ndombele who could play central role), but given that we don't seem to move anyone on, then he wouldn't have much room in here.

Then the Reguillon links are pointless.

Probably. Or we have a game every 3/4 days and will need to switch it up.

Doherty - Toby - Sanchez - Davies
Tanganga - Dier - Foyth - Reguillon

I don't think Sess has a future as a top 6 level footballer anywhere but at left back, but I'm starting to think we mightn't see a great amount of him there this season.

If he continues with one advanced full back and a more conservative option on the other side, this Reguilllon link is a very exciting one.

In an ideal world we would make one risk signing every window, ie Jack Clarke last summer, even then people were moaning that we were wasting £10 million on him, people were also moaning spending money on Sessengon, i think if the finances of the club return to pre covid, then we will see us investing in young English potential, however if the funds are limited as we are led to believe then i like the idea of us going after proven PL players this window.

We're not spending £20,000,000+ on a rotational left back.

£16 million is a lot of money when we still haven't got a backup striker, a RB (Doherty ?) competition for GLC, another LB and a DM.

there is no winning here.. If Eze had turned out a flop that failed on the big stage (there is no dearth of such case studies), this same section of fans would accuse Levy of penny-pinching and not going after highly rated young talent like Bergiwjn just because he costs more than Eze

I get that argument, just my personal opinion is that Eze at 16m (and HG) would have been preferable to 27m on Bergwijn.

Funny how you mention Sess, before we signed him he was a must have signing as he smashed it in the champo, a bit like Eze who apparently we should have signed as he has smashed it in the Champo. I think Sess will come good but but not as a LB.

Quite many things have been discussed here - thought to give my view

Signing Regullion (if we get Doherty as well) - I can't see what would be wrong with that?!? This would give us more flexibility and in position we are kind of short in. It would give us many options -
- as already pointed out then we could switch the attacking side fullback from game to game and play for example Tanganga as RB
- we could use both attacking fullbacks together against specific opponent if other setup allows it
- we could make a change during the game and at the same time make lineup more attacking and bring on fresh legs with change of Davies->Regullion.
So I am not saying we 100% would have to get him. But I am saying it would make sense.

Signing (cunty) veteran strikers - absolutely nothing against bringing in edgy veteran in. We seriously need some unpleasant players, we cannot have 11 "good boys". BUT we have to make sure they can pitch in from the playing side as well. It really seems that Costa is very much past it. He did not cotribute anything to Atletico past season. Suarez and say Higuain and Cavani could I guess. So nothing against them IF we don't spend absolutely crazy money on them.

There is neither going to be a LB nor a DM signing in all probability, there are enough options on paper in both positions . A back-up to Kane seems quite unlikely too since Son has been prolific.

Doherty could be our penultimate signing

It would be amazing if N'dombele is sold and a Grealish-deal is struck in the dying minutes of the window.

That's fair enough...... It just doesn't establish a broader 'rule' like some would seek to imply.

Happy enough with Stevie B; chipped in with a few key goals last season(*) and hopefully he thrives in his first full season.

(*Whilst I suspect we couldn't have bagged Eze mid season.)

There is no way in a million years we sell Ndombele and go in for Grealish, Levy just wouldn't do it as he would look stupid for not getting the deal done for cheaper a few seasons ago, besides i would rather Ndombele as he deserves this season to show us what he can do, as for the other signings we have a £50 million pound war chest to spend, if we sell Aurier and get in Doherty there will be at least 3 more signings this window.

Why would signing reguilon mean that we couldn't play the 4/3 system that Jose favours? Signing him means that we can switch which side we attack down, making us less predictable and harder to defend against.
