Not related particularly to Eze - the specific comment I wa replying to was ' Why do you think our scouting team and manager don't agree with you ?'

The reasons why some players (apparantly) are signed by clubs are not necessarily ones that may fans would agree with.

As its a slow day, I thought the link suggesting that Sissoko was signed as a (sort of) alternative to Mane might inject a bit of humour as well.

Ah..I get ya.

Lloris
Toby - Sanchez - Dier
Doherty - Lo Celso - Hojbjerg - Ndombele - Reguilon
Kane - Son
I think this would be a very fun team to watch.

This little gem belongs in the “Poch wanted SIssoko” arguments (Jack Pitt-Brook is a Spurs journo of reasonable repute,no?) that we’ve had with people like TomHotspur TomHotspur (apologies if it’s not you Tom) todd1882 todd1882 and a couple of others.

But how does this relate to Eze?
I’ve always been a strong advocate of the theory that Poch didn’t want Sissoko. I think this article shows clearly that he wanted a direct, pacey wide man, hence his mention of Mané.
Needless to say, whoever in our recruitment/scouting set up pin pointed Sissoko as a viable alternative to Mané should never be employed in the professional game again, but that’s a separate matter.

It would.

Bergwijn - Kane - Son

Would be even better.
These would be pretty sweet honestly. We have the personnel to do a lot of interesting things with the lineups. I don't think it will happen but we have alot of matches in the first 4 weeks so who knows.

I like that a lot, but I just feel it is so against the way Jose and Sacramento want to trot out their team. That is a great Poch team, but is pretty adventurous and lacks the low block nature of Jose. I would love to be proven wrong and maybe this is Jose pushing for a more aggressive game plan, but I have doubts.

If he were to go that route, it is asking a lot of Hojbjerg. He isn't a natural DM and I don't see him being very good at sitting and not wanting to get forward. With two aggressive fullbacks, two forward thinking CMs in Tanguy and Lo Celso, we will be very open. It would take a very diciplined three in the midfield and an aggressive front line to protect that back two. Would love for our game plan to become more possession based with a high press, which this lineup screams for, but I doubt it.

Also wanted to say PEH isn't the most confident taking the ball off the back two when under pressure. He will make mistakes. Ask any SH fan on how he can get caught in that position.

We're not spending £20,000,000+ on a rotational left back.
Reguillon is an excellent left back, available at a very affordable price, and would immediately improve both our starting team and squad, but you’re probably right, we most likely won’t go for him because we’ve got Ben Davies who we’re willing to plod along with for another season.
It’s just such a shit attitude to have and one I’m pissed off that so many of our fans just lie down and accept.

Note: I’ll gladly eat my words if we do end up signing Reguilon.

Seeing Doherty in team line up stirs bad memories
