We need a striker and we need another CB and I’m confident we Will get both , although I’m not sure why we are leaving it so late, my guess is levy has the Milik and Sinkanir deals ready to go but he is seeing if any clubs get desperate towards the end of the window and we could someone better in, it’s a risky strategy as we saw with Grealish , but to think we end this window without getting Jose his backup striker is madness, I know some don’t think we need one but Jose does and I trust his views more than anyone on here.

This TW more than any before, for obvious reasons, has allowed those with money to take advantage of opportunities where those opportunities wouldnt exist in normal circumstances.

We are entering the last week of the window and the clubs who are suffering from the current economic meltdown due to the Covid restrictions will start to blink and twitch uncontrollably...

Levys poker face will be in full swing this week...

Let’s just hope he’s better at poker than me!

Thank you. I suspected this was the plan.
Levy is in his element. Peak Gordon Gekko scouring the markets for failing companies and opportunities to swoop.
Meanwhile Mourinho scowls, constantly checking his phone for news of the striker that will prevent an injury to Harry Kane derailing our season.

This will pretty much turn Inter against us and ruin the deal. Sending our transfer guy Hitchin out to Milan and offering them a loan deal is pretty pathetic if you ask me and very small time. City have just sanctioned that Dias in about 2 days and he’s now off to them.
I'm sure this is part of the negotiation process, offer the lowest hand first this will get done eventually.

quick look suggests we need a back-up centre forward (although the club may argue that there is enough in the squad without dipping into the transfer market?)

son - kane - bale
bergwijn - dele - moura
sessegnon - parrott - clarke

lo celso - hojbjerg - ndombele
lamela - winks - sissoko
white - skipp - roles

davies - dier - alderweireld - doherty
reguilon - tanganga - sanchez - aurier
cirkin - carter-vickers - foyth - gedson

parrott could prove to be that back-up centre forward come the end of his loan spell at millwall, so any player we look at now is important. daniel sturridge on a free could plug a gap until parrott is ready although, what sort of output he would contribute is very much debatable. paying £40m plus for a back-up forward does seem a tad over kill but then, le arse bought lacazette for £46.5m, then signed aubameyang for £56m so...

maybe we should be looking at a player in that £40m plus range. don't forget that kane could well play with this new fella in the number ten role

new forward
son ---- kane ---- bale

dele isn't a centre forward and to be honest, it doesn't look like he will stay unfortunately. i personally hate that idea because you just know he's going to smash it where ever he goes lol!

it also doesn't look good when our only 'eriksen' type player is lo celso. if he gets injured, who get the ball to the front line? i suppose ndombele is kind of like that but in most people's 'first eleven', both play together

a creative midfielder, a defensive midfielder, a quality centre forward, a centre back

yeah, that's not going to happen lol. just want to post this though....

son - kane - bale
bergwijn - milik - moura

lo celso - ndombele
cortinho - hojbjerg

zakaria

winks

reguilon - sanchez - skriniar - doherty
davies - dier - alderweireld - tanganga

We have had a very good window so far, but the business is far from done. Mourinho clearly saying in his interview that Son isn’t a striker and it means we lose him out wide. Something I have always banged on about, despite some people saying “but Son can play there”. We simply must sign a striker this window and a centre back. It’s imperative we get this sorted before the window ends.
Don’t know if signing a striker is imperative. Whilst I’d be delighted to see one coming in, i don’t believe it’ll make the difference between 5th and 4th, or a trophy or not. Do you think it will?
Not happening this. Levy needs to stop with his loans and just bloody pay the asking price
What if Inter want £75m? After all, they are going to want as much money as they can. Maybe we’ve got that much in the kitty, but do we the. “Just bloody pay the asking price” and not get the striker that is so essential?

Or do we negotiate the price down and buy both players?

If Kane gets a long term injury again, which he has done every season for the last 3 years, we are in big trouble. We MUST sign a striker to ease the burden on him.

We can't just have one player for that position, that's simply negligence. You saw last season what happened when we let Llorente leave without replacing him, it was a disaster and ended up burning out our whole squad. All our rivals have at least 2 players for that position. Almost every team in the world has at least two strikers in their squad.

It will make a difference mate. Can’t believe supporters are still happy if we are to go into another season with 1 natural striker, it’s ludicrous. Bale and Son are not strikers, we need a striker ASAP. We will run Harry into the ground and ruin his career. The guy is not a robot, he needs to have a sufficient striker who will come in and ease the burden.

Winning or losing has nothing to do with it, if we don't sign a back up striker, I will say that is wrong.
Hahahaahaha
Winning or losing has nothing to do with it?
So you want a striker but not to affect our results?
Maybe if we spent 70M on Havertz we could lose half time 3-0 to West Brom too.
Because you know coming back from 3-0 means fuck all because they were poor for 45 minutes right.....

Why is nobody “looking at Chelsea” the past week.
Except of course when they beat Barnsley

But we’ve had Janssen and Llorente and they hardly played. And we’re pretty ineffectual when they did. Maybe José is more of a fan of rotation than Poch was, but I doubt it. And watch the place burn to the ground when we rest Kane for a match, stick in Milik and lose 2-0 to West Brom.

I don’t think anyone is happy with going into a season with Kane as the only striking option. Jose certainly doesn’t seem to be a fan of this strategy. Personally, I think we’ve got fantastic depth out wide so could afford to have Son or Bale playing through the middle. And I’d rather that than signing a striker just because he’s a number nine. But if we can afford a top quality striker as well as a top quality centre half (which id suggest is essential), then crack on and get it done. Doubt we can though.
